- For one to get a Veterinary Surgeon Practicing license you need first register as a Veterinary Surgeon with the Kenya Veterinary Board.
- After registration you can make the application for a practicing license.
Apply In-Person
- To obtain a license to Practice as a Veterinary Surgeon, the applicant has to contact/visit the Kenya Veterinary Board offices to make the application. You should note that one needs first to be registered as a Veterinary Surgeon with the Kenya Veterinary Board
- Here you will be issued with an application for license to practice as a veterinary surgeon which you have to fill and submit.
- The applicant has to make sure he or she has all the required documents that are required for this process to be successful. A list of these documents can be found under the "Required Documents" section of this page or at KVB registration requirements page.
- Submit the completed application form and required documents.
- Proceed to pay the appropriate fees and submit the payment receipt. The amount of fees to be paid can be found under the "Fees" section of this page or at KVB registration fees page.
- The authorities will go through your application and upon verification the Practice License as a Veterinary Surgeon will be issued on the same day.

- Identify card/ Passport
- Passport photo
- Registration certificate as a Veterinary surgeon
- Evidence of payment of prescribed fees
- Academic and professional certificates
- Registration document from professional association

EligibilityEdit
- Registered surgeon with a valid registration certificate from the Kenya Veterinary Board.
FeesEdit
- Practicing licensing fee is fee Ksh 8,000/= paid annually.
- Application fees can be paid directly to Cooperative Bank, Westlands Branch, Ac no 01141151721300 and banking slip presented to KVB. Include your name in the narrative.

ValidityEdit
- The practice license is valid for a period of one year.

The VSVP Act 2011 defines Veterinary Practice as:-
- Prevention of an infectious or organic disease or pathological condition;
- Performance of a surgical operation on an animal;
- Dispensing or administration of veterinary medicines on animals;
- Giving of any treatment, advice, training, research, consultancy services, diagnosis or attendance and other related veterinary services;
- Inspection of foods of animal origin for purposes of food safety;
- Provision of animal welfare services

- The Board may in its discretion require an applicant under this section to undertake such examination as it may prescribe to satisfy itself that the applicant’s knowledge and skill qualify such person for registration.
- The examination referred to above may be conducted by the Board or by any other authority or institution appointed by the Board, and such examination shall be conducted subject to such terms and conditions as the Board may determine.
- A person registered by the Board shall swear or affirm the oath set out in the veterinary surgeons and veterinary paraprofessionals act 2011 (VSVP Act 2011), and shall be entitled to have his name entered in the register maintained by the Registrar for that purpose.
- Every registered person shall be issued with a certificate of registration in the prescribed form which shall be signed by the Registrar.
