Successfully booking for a driving test is the second step towards obtaining a driver’s license in Kenya, after the applicant has completed the driving course. Apply Online:
After the applicant has completed the driving course, he/she should apply for a driving test with the NTSA via the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) Citizen Self-Service Portal.
Step 1: Log in to the NTSA Citizen Self-Service portal
- Go to the NTSA Citizen Self-Service website and register for an account, or if you already have one, log into the portal.
- To register with the NTSA Citizen Self-Service portal, follow the following steps;
- Using a browser search the NTSA Citizen Self-Service website.
- Select the kind of account you wish to register. To create a personal account, select “Individual” and then select the “citizen” option (As applicable).
- Next, carefully type the serial number located in the top left corner of your ID card into the ‘ID Serial’ box. Do not input the ID number; rather, enter the serial number, then click on the “Verify” tab.
- On the next window, accurately input all mandatory personal information before clicking the “send authorization code” option, a text message with a verification code will be sent to the registered mobile number.
- Enter the code exactly as it appears on the message.
- The last page will contain a second form with various fields to complete, including your email address and county of residence. To finally complete the registration, carefully fill out each field. Click “Next.”
- You will receive a password from TIMS through text that you can use to access your account. Return to the homepage and select the “sign-in” link.
- Press “get code” after entering the password that TIMS previously sent. Type this code in the space provided, then click “sign in.”
- Once your account has successfully opened, locate and click on your name in the top right corner of the page.
- There will be a drop-down menu. Select “Change Password” from the menu. Enter a password that you can remember, then type it in again to be sure.
- If you are successful, you can now use and access every NTSA-TIMS service that is offered.
Step 2: Book a driving test with the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA).
- On the next window, click the “Driving Licenses” button, then click” Learn more” next to Driving Test Application.
- Click on “Apply now”, a page will be displayed requiring you to fill in the relevant information. Correctly fill in the information. Select your preferred test center, test location, date, and time, then click on the “Next” tab.
- Choose “Payment method” and complete the payment. Payments can be made directly from the website portal (M-PESA) or to the bank. Just follow the instructions given.
- Upon successfully completing your payment of Kshs. 650 then click on the “Complete” tab, and you will be redirected to the final page where you will be in a position of printing your Test Booking Certificate, which should be produced during NTSA driving center; in addition to the applicant identity card.
- Note: Students/Applicants who fail their driving test can re-sit the driving test after 21 days
