- To obtain the approval of a veterinary laboratory, interested applicants should make an application to the Kenya Veterinary Board (KVB). Please view the Kenya Veterinary Board contact details through this Contact Details.
- To obtain the application form for approval of a veterinary laboratory by the Kenya Veterinary Board, the applicant should visit the Kenya Veterinary Board office and collect the application form at the reception of the office or download the form directly through this Application for veterinary laboratory Approval.
- Then the applicant should complete the application form correctly and prepare all the required supporting documents as mentioned in the “Required Documents” section below and attach them to the completed application form in a single file.
- The applicant should then pay the veterinary laboratory inspection fee of Ksh.100,000 through the bank details provided in the “Fees” section below and obtain the payment receipt.
- Upon paying the veterinary laboratory inspection fee, the applicant should visit the Kenya Veterinary Board office and submit the application file along with the inspection fee payment receipt to the officer at the service desk.
- The Kenya Veterinary Board officer at the service desk will receive and verify the application to check if all the required supporting documents are provided and the appropriate inspection fee is paid and issue the applicant with the acknowledgment receipt of the application.
- Then the Kenya Veterinary Board will send their inspection team to the applicant’s veterinary laboratory to inspect the laboratory.
- The Kenya Veterinary Board’s inspectors will conduct a thorough inspection of the proposed veterinary laboratory and write a report based on the inspection results.
- Then the inspection report will be submitted to the Kenya Veterinary Board for an internal review.
- The Kenya Veterinary Board will assess the inspection report and if the board is satisfied that the applicant complies with the standards set out in regulations, the board will advise the applicant to pay the licensing fees of Ksh 10,000.
- Then the applicant should pay the license fee as advised and obtain the payment receipt.
- After payment of the requisite fee, the board will approve the application and issue the license. Note: The license issued shall be valid for one year calculated from the date of issue and if is renewable.

FeesEdit
- Inspection fees for registration of a veterinary laboratory, Ksh.100, 000 (one hundred thousand). Paid Once.
- License fees for veterinary laboratory, Ksh.10,000.Paid annually.
- Application fees can be paid directly to Cooperative Bank, Westlands Branch, Ac no 01141151721300, and the banking slip presented to KVB. Include your name in the narrative.
ValidityEdit
- The license is valid for one year and can be renewed thereafter.

- Inspections are done one day after submitting the application and the license is processed one day after the board determines that the lab meets the required standards and upon the applicant paying the license fee.

- A license may be canceled by the Board any time an inspector establishes a breach of any provisions of these Regulations.
- A veterinary clinical center, veterinary hospital, or an ambulatory service that has been licensed to operate shall not be required to make a separate application for its in-house laboratory.
