Procedure

Apply Online

1. The first step is to register on eCitizen through the following link eCitizen Online Platform. Click on create account then click on the create an Account icon under the eVisa tab and select Register as a visitor
   
2. You will need to fill in your personal information so to register for an eCitizen account. This includes your Passport number, Name, Email address and nationality to complete the registration.
   
3. Once you have registered you will then need to login to your eCitizen account and navigate to Department of Immigration Services and then submit application.
   

   • Click on Get service now, then select the Blue button Make Application on the next window.
     
   • Click on the Plus (+) sign on the Kenyan Visa tab and select which type of visa you want to apply for. i.e.

   Single entry

   Multiple entry

   Tourist

   Business e.tc.
   

4. Read the instructions carefully; make sure you have all the requirements to make the application and then click on the Apply Now button which will direct you to the online application form.
   
5. Fill in the online application form with all the required details and upload supporting documents. These details include :-
   

   (a) Traveler information (Name, Date and place of birth, Occupation, Parents names)
   

   (b) Nationality and residence (Nationality, Country of residence, Physical address in country of residence, Phone number)
   

   (c) Passport/ Travel documents information (Passport number, Date of issue, Expiry date )
   

   (d) Travel information
   

   (i). Reason for travel. Select your reason for travel; this include (Business, Education, Employment, Medical, Religion, Settlement/ Family, Tourism)
   

   (ii). Proposed date of entry and departure from Kenya,
   

   (iii). Full names of friend or relative in Kenya, their physical address and telephone numbers
   

   (iv). Full names of hotels, places or firms to be visited in Kenya.
   

   (e) Travel history (previous travels to Kenya, any denial of entry to any county including Kenya, criminal history)
   

   (f) Upload Supporting Documents (upload your passport’s bio data page ,Upload additional Documents e.g. official Invitation letter, Hotel Booking or travel Itinerary, Upload a passport size photo , select mode of arrival and point of entry)
   

   tick declaration from and the click continue.
   

   (g) This will direct you to the next page where you are to review your entry details. If everything is in order Click Submit button to finish.
   

   (h) This will direct you to the next page where you are supposed to make payment for the Visa. Make your payment using the provided payment methods provided and click on the submit button. Pay Using visa card, MasterCard and other debit cards.

   (i) You will receive a notification of payment receipt in your email address confirming payment.
   

6. Once the visa is approved, the Visa will be made available in your eCitizen account. You will also receive a notification email in your email address once your visa is available. This is usually after a period of two (2) days.
   
7. You must print a copy of the visa from your e-citizen account and carry it with your passport when you travel to Kenya.
   
8. When you arrive in Kenya, you must have your Visa printout with your passport and present it to the immigration officer at the port of entry.

1. Passport Valid for at least Six Months with at least two blank pages with clear bio-data page and photograph
2. eVisa Printout from eCitizen
3. Travel itinerary (Valid travel document not less than six months.)
4. Supporting letter e.g. letter from company or Invitation letter for business visits/family visits. or
5. Hotel bookings/details about places to visit if going as tourist.

• This is issued to persons whose nationalities require visa to enter Kenya either for business, tourism, medical or other purposes.

Instructions

1. Click register on www.ecitizen.go.ke.
2. Select Register as a Visitor.
3. Once Logged in, Select Department of Immigration services.
4. Select submit Application.
5. Select Kenyan Visa.
6. Select the type of Visa and read the Instructions Carefully.
7. Fill in the application form.
8. Pay Using visa card, MasterCard and other debit cards.
9. Await approval via email, then download and print the eVisa from your eCitizen account.
10. Present your printed eVisa to the immigration officer at the port of entry

Need for the Document

An immigration visa is a document issued by a country’s consular officer abroad that allows the applicant to travel to the country and apply for admission as a legal permanent resident (LPR). There are several types of visas;

• Single journey Visa
• Multiple journeys Visa
• Transit Visa

Information which might help

1. Visa processing fee is nonrefundable.
2. Incomplete applications will be rejected.
3. The possession of an eVisa is not the final Authority to enter The Republic of Kenya.
4. Engaging in any form of business or employment without a requisite permit or pass is an offence.
5. A visa is required prior to entry into The Republic of Kenya.
6. The e-Visa printout must be presented at the port of entry.
7. It should take at least 2 working days to get your eVisa.
8. Each adult visitor to the Republic of Kenya is required to submit eVisa applications in their personal eCitizen account. Parents can apply for their children in the parents account.
