Procedure

Residents of Karnataka can transfer the ownership of an existing water connection through the following procedure.
Apply Online

1. To Transfer Name for Water Connection the applicant has to use the following link.
2. The applicant has to login with your login credentials if you are already a user or you can register as a new user by clicking on “Sign Up” option.
3. The applicant has to enter all the required details for register.
4. After registration the applicant has to login to the respective page.
5. Make sure that applicant have all the documents that are listed down the “Required Document” section of this page.
6. Pay the prescribed amount fee in online mode.
7. Once completed with all the details click the “Submit” button.
8. After receiving the application, the concerned authority will check the submitted application and document set. If all are in place, the application will be accepted.
9. All applications are processed within a reasonable time, having regard to the particular circumstances of each application, including the completeness of information and documents submitted to the authority by the applicant.
10. The authority may seek additional information from an applicant if this is necessary to assess the application. The authority does not need to deal further with an application until the applicant has provided this additional information.
11. Site verifications will be made by the authority officers if required.
12. For further process, the applicant has to follow the instructions given by the officer.
13. After this verification, your request will be further processed by the authorities and the necessary changes will be made in the computer records within the next billing cycle.

Apply In-Person:

1. The applicant has to visit the concerned Water Supply and Drainage Office of your area in person link
2. The applicant has to procure the prescribed application form for name change request by paying the required application form fee and fill all the required details of the form.
3. In case of absence of a particular form to avail the service, the applicant has to write a request letter addressing the respective authority.
4. Please make sure that applicant have all the documents that are listed down the “Required Document” section of this page.
5. The applicant has to Submit application form along with photocopy of all the required documents to the concerned authority.
6. The authorities will check if all the necessary documents have been submitted and will ask the applicant to pay the processing fee.
7. The applicant has to pay the required processing fee and register your service.
8. Receive the acknowledgement receipt or get the photocopy of the form counter signed for further reference.
9. Site verifications will be made by the authority officers if required.
10. After this verification, your request will be further processed by the authorities and the necessary changes will be made in the computer records within the next billing cycle.

• Address proof and Id proof of the applicant from the following:
• Aadhaar card
• Driving Licence

Validity

• The name change is valid till the change of next ownership due to sale of the property or other reasons.

Need for the Document

• A water bill is one of the utility bills which could be used as address proof for banks, passports, etc.
• The water bill will always bear the previous owner’s name until it is changed to a new ownership. For this reason, it is always advisable to change the ownership of water connection when purchasing a new property or after legal succession.

• The new consumer might be asked to change the water meter if it is not in working condition.
• One has to pay the monthly dues regularly. Reconnection charges might be levied on the consumer if the connection was disconnected due to pending dues.
