Apply in Person
- Transfer of vehicle registration from one state to another state happens whenever the vehicle is sold to a person in another state and if the owner himself settles in a new state.
- The main document for this purpose is NOC from the home state RTO.
- In order to transfer vehicle from another state, Applicant has to apply and get NOC as stated above from their home state RTO
- With the NOC in hand the applicant can approach the RTO for his area to do this procedure.

- Make sure you have completed application form in Form 33 and Form-27 KMV for other state vehicle and Form-27 CMV for Reregistration
- Also make sure you have all the necessary documents to process the application
- Application forms can also be obtained from the appropriate RTO offices that should be completed and presented with appropriate fees.
- Present the completed application forms along with documents in one of the counter and pay the appropriate fee where the officials would start processing your application.
- Pencil tracing of engine chassis number is the activity to record the chassis number against the registration number in the RTO register
- Authorities will inspect the vehicle and announce the registration number
- After necessary verification, the applicant is given a token of receipt for the period till he receives the RC
- The Vehicle Registration Certificate is issued to the applicant within one month

- Enter the registration Number as prompted and hit “PROCEED”
- New screen will open to give options to choose. Choose “Misc (TO/CoA/HPA/HPC/HPT/DupRC)” to get new screen.
- Enter your Chassis (Last 5 digits) number and click the button next to chassis number box
- In the next screen, Fill in required details and upload documents to process the online procedure
- You have to submit this application along with required documents to the RTO (handover personally) to process further

- In the next window, select “book appointment” under “Appointment” option to get the next screen
- Enter the Application Number in the prompted box and hit “get user details” to process the request for getting the slot

ValidityEdit
- In case of non-transport vehicles like two wheelers and cars, the registration certificate is valid for 15 years from the date of first registration and it is renewed after every five subsequent years.
- In case of transport vehicles like goods and passenger carriers the registration certificate is valid till certificate of fitness is valid.

InstructionsEdit
- The vehicles migrating from other States are required to obtain re-registration mark of Karnataka State within 12 months from the date of arrival into Karnataka State.
- An application for assignment of Karnataka Registration Mark shall be made before the Jurisdictional Regional Transport Officer if the vehicle is kept for more than eleven months in Karnataka state. Change of address/Transfer ownership should have been recorded in the Registration Certificate.
- The vehicle owner shall produce the following
- No Objection Certificate (NOC) in form CMV28 or postal acknowledgement for having sent application for issue of no objection certificate to the concerned registering authority.
- Application in form CMV27. (If CMV27 already filed, an application on plain paper) along with documents shall be submitted to the concerned R.T.O.
- Registration certificate (RC Book).
- Tax Card.
- Insurance certificate.
- Consent of the Financier (if applicable).
- Pollution Under Control Certificate.
- Fitness Certificate and permit in case of transport vehicles.
- Prescribed fees and difference of tax if any.
- Three passport size photographs of the applicant.
- Vehicle shall be produced for inspection in the premises of the R.T.O. if it is not inspected earlier.
- In case NOC has not been obtained at the time of migration, the registered owner is required to apply in form no 28 (in quadruplicate) to the previous registering authority along with documents for issue of NOC , and submit the NOC obtained for consideration of Re - Registration application. In case, no reply is received from the previous registering authority even after 30 days, the registered owner shall submit a copy of the form no. 28 applied, along with the postal acknowledgement for having submitted before the previous registering authority, and a declaration stating that " the application for NOC has neither been rejected nor any reply received from the previous registering authority" to whom the application has been made.
- On verification of application and documents, new Registration Mark will be assigned.

- The transfer of registration of a vehicle is to be applied in the concerned motor vehicle (RTO) office where the vehicle is registered.

- In case of vehicle registered outside the state, the transferor (seller) should report the fact of transfer within 45 days of the transfer to the concerned registering authority.
