- To Renew Certificate Of Vehicle Registration, in Karnataka the applicant has to approach the RTO office to which your area belongs to. Following link can provide you information related to the list of RTO office: link
- An application form will be provided to the applicant by the concerned officer.
- The applicant has to fill in all the necessary details in the application form. (Incomplete applications are not accepted)
- Make sure that the applicant has to attach all the necessary documents that are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
- The applicant has to attach the photocopies of the required documents along with the application form while submitting.
- Submit all the documents with the completed form to the concerned officer.
- The applicant has to pay the prescribed fee as requested by the authority.
- After receiving the application, the concerned authority will check the submitted application and document set. If all are in place, the application will be accepted.
- An acknowledgment receipt will be provided. Please save it for future reference, it contains the application summary and contact details of the person to be contacted.
- Then the application will be processed further. All the updates on the application status will be sent via SMS to the applicant’s mobile number.
- The processing time for this procedure takes up to 10 - 15 days.

EligibilityEdit
- Owner of the vehicle can apply for renewal of RC.
- The owner of the Non transport vehicle should apply for renewal of Registration Certificate before Completion of 15 years from the date of original registration. The registration can be renewed maximum 60 days before expiry of the registration. Renewal can be done even after expiry, but late charges will need to be paid.

- The Non-Transport Category vehicle is renewed for 5 years.
- The Transport Category Vehicle is renewed for 1 year.
- Renewal should be made not more than 60 days before the date of its expiry

- Apply for renewal of certificate of registration in Form 25 to the Registering Authority in whose jurisdiction the vehicle is, not more than 60 days before the date of its expiry
- Pay the due taxes on vehicle, if any
- Pay appropriate fee as specified in Rule 81 of the Central Motor Vehicle Rules 1989

Need for the DocumentEdit
- Vehicle registration's purpose is to establish clear ownership and to tax motorist or vehicle owners. It is a requirement by the state.
- As per the Central Motor Vehicle Rules, all vehicles either transport or non-transport should renew their registration of vehicle after a period of time as allowed.
- For Non transport type vehicle like car, bike etc. need to be renewed after 15 years and 5 years afterwards.
- For transport type vehicles like bus the renewal is required for every year.
- For as long as it is considered road worthy by the department.

- While applying - Documents can be made in duplicate if the vehicle is held under an agreement of Hire-purchase / Lease / Hypothecation and Duplicate copy with the endorsement of the Registering Authority to be returned to the Financier simultaneously on Registration of motor vehicle.
- Make sure all lights and horn are in good condition. Also, the vehicle should look neat and clean.
