Apply In-Person

  1. To apply for Goods Carriage (Temporary) Permit in Karnataka the applicant has to approach the RTO office to which your area belongs to. Following link can provide you information related to the list of RTO office: Contacts Link
  2. Application Form No KMV 38 can be collected from the RTO office.
  3. Make sure you have all the necessary documents.
  4. Application forms can be obtained from the appropriate RTO offices that should be completed and presented along with documents and appropriate fees. Officials would start processing your application.
  5. Important verification for the permit includes Vehicle condition, Body built arrangements etc.; will be carried by authorities.
  6. After checking the vehicle for its correctness and other appropriate requirements the application will be processed further.

  • Fitness Certificate of the vehicle.
  • Proof of payment of tax for the current quarter.
  • Payment of green tax wherever applicable.
  • Affidavit Sworn by the applicant before an Executive (or) a First Class Judicial Magistrate (or) Notary Public
  • Insurance Certificate.
  • Passport size photo-2
  • Pollution under control certificate
  • PROOF OF ADDRESS (any one of the following to be produced)

  • You should be the owner of the vehicle.
  • The age of the vehicle should not exceed 12 years.

ValidityEdit

  • Temporary permits are valid for 4 months (Can be extended on request for a maximum of one Year).
  • Usually the renewal of permit can be obtained with Vehicle fitness certificate and FC as per authorities of concerned RTO in the matter of regular permits.

  • Goods Carriage Temporary Permit is needed for a vehicle operator to ply his vehicle to carry goods from one place to another.
  • Vehicles with this permit……
    • Be used only in a specified area or on a specified route or routes for the specified period
    • That goods of a specified nature as permitted only be carried (classified as illegal to transport should be avoided)
    • That goods shall be carried at specified rates (Weight and distance to travel) etc.
  • The age of the vehicle should not exceed 12 years.
  • Goods Carriage (Temporary) Permit is needed for

    • Vehicle which doesn’t have permit, but need permit to operate for specific period to cater the need.
