  • In case the vehicle is lost/stolen and untraceable, one needs to cancel his or her vehicle registration. Also, in case the vehicle got damaged due to an accident or fire and the vehicle can’t be used further then one has to get this cancellation certificate to sell it for scrap. When you decide to scrap the vehicle please cut down the chassis and engine number.
  1. To Cancel Vehicle Registration Certificate in Jharkhand the applicant has to approach the RTO office to which his area belongs to.

  4. Write an application for cancellation in a white A4 size paper to the RTO officer/authority.
  5. Please mention the engine number, Chassis Number, Car model, and vehicle number
  6. Please attach FIR obtained from Police Station
  7. Also make sure you have all the necessary documents to process the application
  8. Present the completed application along with documents to the officer at RTO. He will sign and put his stamp on the application.
  9. Based on his advice submit the application and documents to one of the counters and pay the appropriate fee where the officials would start processing your application.
  10. Applicant will be issued with acknowledgment or a copy of the application with details of registry, signature, and stamp.

  1. To Cancel Vehicle Registration (RC Book) in Jharkhand, the applicant shall visit the following webpage: Link.
  2. A new page will open up, where the applicant needs to log in using their login credentials.
  3. After login, the applicant shall choose an appropriate option for making amendments and proceed further.
  4. On a newly opened page, the applicant shall fill up the application form with all the necessary details and complete the given application form.
  5. Now the applicant shall upload scanned copies of all the "Required Documents" for further processing.
  6. Once the documents are uploaded, provide the mobile number and enter the received OTP.
  7. Now click on "Submit" and complete the process.
  8. On successful verification, the changes will be made.



Apply through Centres:

  1. To Cancel Vehicle Registration (RC Book) in Jharkhand, the applicant shall visit the nearest CSC/Tehsil Centre. Find contacts to CSC centres in the link provided:Link
  2. Procure the application form from the concerned centre and fill it up with the necessary details required for the process.
  3. Make sure to attach all the "Required Documents" along with the application form before submission.
  4. Provide authorized signatory and photograph, wherever applicable.
  5. Now submit the application to the office of the concerned centre.
  6. On successful verification, the applicant will be notified by the CSC centre.

  1. All the vehicles need to be registered as per the Motor Vehicle Act,1988 . The vehicles are provided with unique registration number. Once the vehicle is registered, a certificate is issued to the owner. The registration certificate is used as a proof for authorized owner of the vehicle.
