  1. To Apply for an Extended Producer Responsibility (ERP) Certificate, the applicant has to approach the respective state Pollution Control Board link
  2. Develop a comprehensive EPR compliance plan that outlines how your organization will manage and fulfill EPR obligations.
  3. This plan should include details about collection mechanisms, recycling processes, and disposal methods for end-of-life products or waste.
  4. An application form will be provided to the applicant by the concerned officer.
  5. The applicant has to fill in all the necessary details in the application form. (Incomplete applications are not accepted)
  6. Make sure that the applicant has attached all the necessary documents that are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
  7. The applicant has to attach the photocopies of the required documents along with the application form while submitting.
  8. Submit all the documents with the completed form to the concerned officer.
  9. Submit your EPR compliance plan to the relevant regulatory authority for approval. Ensure that the plan aligns with the guidelines and rules applicable to your product category. The authority will review and evaluate your plan.
  10. The applicant has to pay the prescribed fee as requested by the authority.
  11. After receiving the application, the concerned authority will check the submitted application and document set. If all are in place, the application will be accepted.
  12. An acknowledgment receipt will be provided. Please save it for future reference.
  13. Then the application will be processed further. All the updates on the application status will be sent via SMS to the applicant’s mobile number.
  14. Once the process is completed, the applicant gets a call from the office regarding the application.
  15. Once your EPR plan is approved, implement the plan effectively. This includes establishing collection centers, recycling facilities, and responsible disposal methods for end-of-life products or waste.
  16. This entire process can be completed within 30 - 40 days or as per the timeline advised by the respective department authority.

EligibilityEdit

To be eligible to apply for an Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) Certificate in India, you must meet the following criteria:

  • The applicant must be a producer, importer, or brand owner (PIBO) of goods that are covered by the EPR program.
  • The applicant must have a valid business license or registration certificate.
  • The applicant must have a valid GST registration certificate.
  • The applicant must have a valid bank account in India.
  • The applicant must have a plan in place for the collection, recycling, and disposal of your products at the end of their life cycle.
