Procedure

Apply In-Person:

1. The respective “Fair Price Shops-FPS” / ration shop will announce the issue of the application form for the new ration card. The respective District Supply Office (present in respective district DC office campus) also conducts special camps for the issue of family card to the transgender. The applicant shall approach these offices and find out the option for getting a ration card for transgender. If the service is availed, then apply for the family card.

3. Go to the respective office and obtain the application form to apply for a ration card. The applicants are advised to get the latest eligibility updates from the authorities.
4. Irrespective of the announcements for the new ration cards and special camps, the applicant shall also visit the respective public distribution office for their area on any working day to consult about how to apply for the new ration card.
5. Fill all the necessary mandatory information in the application as appropriate, please mention or select the transgender/others option for the gender/sex section as appropriate and sign at appropriate places.
6. Do not fill in any wrong information, otherwise the officer of the department will reject the application form.
7. Attach all the required documents as per the “Required Documents” section of this page and apply to the concerned authority. Please pay the fee/charges if any and don’t forget to take the receipt. Please refer to the “Fees” section of this page for more details.
8. On accepting the application, the authority or the clerk will check the application details and documents. If all are in place, the application will be accepted and an acknowledgement slip with a serial number will be issued. Please keep it safe for future reference.
9. Applicant will be informed of the probable date of getting approval for the issuance of the ration card.
10. ”SMS” triggered update on application status will be sent to the applicant’s mobile. Please keep track of the notification.
11. The submitted application will be processed by the department. A designated authority (supply officer) will verify the submitted documents and inspect the area of the applicant to clarify the applicant’s details.
12. Based on the outcome of the above-mentioned steps and other internal processing, the designated issuing authority will make a decision on issuance of the family card.
13. The status, viz. Approval or Rejection will be conveyed to the applicant through an “SMS” or through applicable norms.
14. If approved, the ration card will be hand-delivered or sent through post to the address mentioned while applying or issued as per the applicable norms within 60 days or as per the advised timeline.

1. To apply for a family card for transgender in Jharkhand, the applicant shall visit the following website:Link
2. On the login page, provide the user credentials if already a user otherwise, click on the "Register Here" button on the webpage.
3. Enter name, phone number, email ID and captcha on the following page and register.
4. On successful registration, find a suitable option for the transgender family card and apply.
5. Make sure to provide all the "Required Documents" as displayed on the portal.
6. Make requisite payment (if applicable) and submit.
7. On successful verification, the process will be completed.
8. The applicant is required to download an acknowledgement slip/e-certificate for future reference.
9. Procure the original document from the concerned office.
   
   

Apply through Centres:

1. To Apply Family Card for Transgender in Jharkhand, the applicant shall visit the nearest CSC/Tehsil Centre. Find contacts to CSC centres in the link provided:Link
2. Procure the application form from the concerned centre and fill it up with the necessary details required for the card.
3. Make sure to attach all the "Required Documents" along with the application form before submission.
4. Provide authorized signatory and photograph, wherever applicable.
5. Now submit the application to the office of the concerned centre.
6. On successful verification, the applicant will be notified by the CSC centre.

• Address Proof (attested copy of PAN Card /Driving Licence / Bank Passbook / Post Office Passbook /Municipal Holding receipt / Electricity Bill / Telephone Bill)

• A copy of age certificate / school-leaving certificate of the head of the family
• A copy of income proof of the family - that income of the family is below the prescribed limit (to apply for value based card)

• Certificate from the respective area Pradhan/Ward Councillor as applicable
• A self-addressed and stamped postal cover or postcard to enable the office to communicate the results to the applicant
• Copy of Tax Pay / Land Revenue Pay receipt or Tenancy agreement if the applicant is a tenant
• Copies of birth certificates of minor members (Below 10 years in age)
• Surrender certificate of Ration Card / Family Identity holding or non-availability certificate from the FCS & CA authority where the applicant has previously resided (applying in the new place) as applicable
• Aadhaar Card

Eligibility

• Transgender is eligible to apply with a valid “Certificate of identity”.
• The applicant and his/her family must be Indian citizens and should be residents of the state.
• The applicant or his family members must not possess any family card in any other State in India (If they had one, it has to be withdrawn).
• The applicant and members of the family must be close relatives.
• If you are newly married and have your name in your family ration card, you and your spouse should get name deletion certificates (removing names from your respective family cards).

Fees

• Fee information and other charges can be obtained directly from the department office while applying.

Validity

• The ration cards are usually valid for a lifetime and will be renewed in 5 years or based on the announcement.

• Please mention the period of stay in the present address.
• Incomplete application will be rejected.
• Do not submit fake documents as proof to get the ration card.
• Avoid spelling mistakes while filling the application form.
• If it comes to notice of the department at a later date that particulars given by an applicant are either wrong or contrary to truth, the family card issued will be cancelled and action will be pursued against the applicant.

Need for the Document

• To protect the transgender rights and interests and to facilitate their access to different government schemes, the government initiated the issue of family cards under the “Targeted Public Distribution System (TPDS)”.
• For implementation of the “Targeted Public Distribution System (TPDS)”, ration Card is being issued to all the heads of families, with details about family members included in the card. Based on their economic condition, people can buy goods like food grains, sugar and kerosene with the help of their ration cards.
• Ration card is essential to apply for passport, PAN card or a domicile certificate or to even get the name registered for electoral rolls to get a Voter ID.
