Procedure

Apply in Person

1. To apply for Duplicate Fitness certificate in Jammu and Kashmir the applicant has to approach the RTO office to which his area belongs to.

3. Application form can be downloaded using the following link: Application forms
   
4. Also make sure you have all the necessary documents to process the application
   
5. The applicant should make sure they are eligible for applying for this procedure
   
6. Completed respective application: (can be obtained from RTO)
   
7. The applicant should bring in their vehicle for inspection.
   
8. Present the completed application and documents in the counter and pay the appropriate fee where the officials would start processing your application.
   

Note: The duplicate Fitness will be marked in Red as “DUPLICATE”.

Apply online:

1. To Obtain Duplicate Vehicle Fitness Certificate (FC), the applicant has to use the following link – link
2. The applicant has to enter the registration number and select the state, district and click the “Proceed” button.
3. Use the online menu bar, from the drop-down menu click the “Application for Fitness Certificate”.
4. Now, the applicant has to enter the mobile number and registration number to generate OTP.
5. Once entered the OTP, click the “shown Details” button for further process.
6. The applicant has to enter the details in the displayed form and click the “Payment” button.
7. In the screen, the message box will be displayed and it will show the fee amount to pay.
8. The applicant has to select the payment gateway and click the “Continue” button.
9. The applicant has to complete the payment process and click the “Successful” option.
10. The applicant can take the print of fee receipt and the application form by clicking “Print” option.
11. The applicant has to visit the RTO office with the vehicle.
12. The RTO officer will do the verification and also the vehicle checking.
13. Once all the process gets done completely, the applicant gets the fitness certificate within 15days.

Validity

• In case of Private vehicles the fitness certificates is valid for 15 years and there after renewed at every 5 years
  
• In case of Transport Vehicles the fitness certificate is issued for a new vehicle for 2 years and subsequently renewed every year

Need for the Document

• Fitness Certificate is an official document certifying that the holder’s vehicle is fit to drive at public places. As this certificate is a very important document in renewal of permits. One has to get the duplicate of the FC as and when he found that he has lost / misplaced / toned
  
• The registration of vehicle is treated as valid only if the vehicle has valid certificate of fitness. Fitness certificate for a vehicle in Chhattisgarh is required to renew the current status of the vehicle
  
• The fitness is checked and certified by the Registering Authority
  
• Fitness certificate is issued to check the pollution caused by the emission of smoke from the vehicles, to maintain the vehicle in proper condition and to avoid accidents
