Procedure

To provide financial support to the poor widows of India, the widow pension scheme was introduced in India. A widow whose household is below the poverty line is eligible to get the benefits of pension scheme.
Apply In-Person through Indira Gandhi National Widow Pension Scheme (IGNWPS):

1. To apply for Indira Gandhi National Widow Pension Scheme, visit the District Social Welfare (DSWO) or Tehsil Social Welfare Officer.

4. Application forms can also be obtained from the District Social welfare (DSWO) or Tehsil Social Welfare (TSW) free of cost.
5. Fill the application form with all the necessary details.
6. Attach all the Required Documents as mentioned in the Required Documents section along with the form and submit it to the concerned officer in the Tehsil Social Welfare Officer.
7. Pay the appropriate fees as per authorities quote.
8. You will be given an acknowledgement keep it safe for future reference.
9. Now the authorities will verify your application and validate the submitted documents.
10. If sanctioned, beneficiary shall be issued a Pension Passbook.

• Death Certificate of Husband
• BPL Status Certificate (verifiable through Ration card)
• Aadhaar Card
•  Any of the following documents, namely:
  • Voters’ ID Card issued by Election Commission of India
  • Ration Card
  • Bank Passbook with Photo (Kisan Photo Passbook also valid)
  • PAN Card issued by Income Tax Department
  • Passport
  • Driving Licence
  • MGNREGA Card

Eligibility

Eligibility to apply for Indira Gandhi National Widow Pension Scheme (IGNWPS):

• The applicant must be from BPL category (with a valid BPL id)
• The applicant must be a widow.
• Widows aged between 40 -64 years of age.

• As authorities quote.

Validity

• It is valid forever.
