Apply In-Person

  1. The government organization that is responsible for restoring citizenship is the Passport, Immigration and Citizenship Agency (PICA) of Jamaica. Please view PICA’s contact details via this link: Link
  2. Obtain the application form for restoration of citizenship form R5 form the Jamaica Printing Services, 77 1/2 Duke Street Kingston or form PICA’s website via this link:Link (restoration of citizenship) or download it directly through this link:Link
  3. Complete the application form accordingly and have certified by a Justice of the Peace (JP) or a Notary Public or somebody authorized to administer oaths
  4. Prepare the required supporting documents for your application and attach them to the application form
  5. Submit the complete application to the PICA’s office at this address: 8 Waterloo Road, Kingston 10 for processing
  6. Pay the application fee of JMD$80,000.00 the cashier. Note that the application fee is non-refundable and is only accepted in Jamaican dollars
  7. Upon payment your application will be processed by the PICA’s authority. Note that you may be requested for additional and or updated information during the processing of the application
  8. If the application is correct, you will receive PICA’s approval decision with twenty-four hours restoring your citizenship


Applications form Abroad

  1. Applicants from abroad can obtain the application form the nearest Jamaican consulate or form PICA’s website in step 2 above
  2. Complete the application form and submit it to the consulate for processing along all the required documents
  3. Upon paying the appropriate application fee, the consulate will forward your application to PICA for processing
  4. Once the request is processed, the consulate will contact you to inform you of PICA’s decision and issue your relevant documents indication your citizenship restoration
  • Contact your embassy to determine if you need to book an appointment for the application since different embassies have different polices

  • Valid Identification
  • Two Passport sized photographs of the applicant certified by a Justice of the Peace for local applications or by a Notary Public, Justice of the Peace, Commissioner of Oaths for overseas applications
  • Payment receipt

  • Former Jamaican nationals who acquired Jamaican Citizenship by virtue of Birth, descent or adoption and subsequently renounced it.

  • Local application: JMD$80,000.00 payable in Jamaican dollars only
  • Foreign application: USD$1000.00, CAD$1,100.00, GBP£625.00 and EUR€700.0
