Jamaica - Replace Lost Motor Vehicle Fitness Certificate

- The office responsible for issuing the Motor Vehicle Certificate of Fitness is the Inland Traffic Authority (ITA). Please view the Inland Traffic Authority contact details through this link:Link
- However, if you have lost your Motor Vehicle Certificate of Fitness, you will have to submit your application for replacement of the certificate to the Tax Administration Jamaica (Tax office) and you can view TAJ’s contact details via this link:Link
- Upon noticing that you have lost your motor vehicle’s certificate of fitness, report the case to the nearest police station immediately and obtain the police report
- Obtain the application form for motor vehicle transaction from the Tax office or download it from their website:Link you can also download the form directly via this link:Link
- Complete the application form correctly
- Then go to the Tax office where registration plates were issued and present your valid identification documents along with the police report and the application to the official at the service unit including the vehicle registration document and your address details
- The official will verify your details through their system and upon verification, you will be required to pay the examination fees for a new fitness certificate and the certificate's fee.You can refer to wikiprocedure: “Jamaica-How to Pay for The Motor Vehicle Certificate of Fitness Online” to view the complete procedure for the payment of the certificate online
- Pay in person at the Tax office or online and obtain the examination fees receipt and take it along with the vehicle records to the Examination Depot
- At the depot, the vehicle will undergo a series of exams to determine its fitness and it is deemed fit to be driven in Jamaica i.e., passes the fitness exams test, you will be issued a new motor vehicle fitness certificate
