Apply In-Person

  1. The Jamaica Agricultural Commodities Regulatory Authority (JACRA) regulates several goods including; pimento, nutmeg, ginger, turmeric, coconut, cocoa, coffee, and any other spice. And to obtain a release permit for the imported good regulated by JACRA, you should go to the JACRA office, please view the JACRA contact details via this link: Link
  2. Write a letter addressed to JACRA requesting the release permit, the letter should outline the following information in details:
    • The name of the carrying vessel
    • Date of its arrival
    • Quantity and type of product arriving
    • Copies of the Bill of Lading
    • The supplier’s invoice
    • The permit number and the date issued
  3. Then prepare the required supporting documents as mentioned in the “Required Documents” section below and attach them to the application letter in a single file
  4. Go to the JACRA office and submit the complete application to the JACRA official at the service desk
  5. The official will verify your application and determine if there is cess to be paid or not
  6. If yes, the official will calculate the cess and issue a notification with the total amount to pay
  7. Obtain the notice and pay the cess amount at the JACRA office or deposit the amount via a bank
  8. Upon payment of the cess, JACRA will process and issue you a release permit
  9. If there is no cess to be paid, JACRA will process and issue you a release permit

  • Before a release permit is issued, you will be required to pay Cess (if any) on the imported goods. The cess will be calculated at the point the request for the release permit is made and communicated to you, then you can choose to pay directly at the JACRA office, or by direct deposit
