How to Apply
- To apply for the NHT clearance letter, you should visit the National Housing Trust (NHT) office in your location. You can view the NHT contact details via this link: Link
- Before you visit the NHT for your application, prepare all the required documents supporting documents.
- Once you have obtained all the documents, go to the NHT office near you, at the reception request to speak with a compliance officer regarding an application for the NHT clearance letter.
- Make your way to the compliance officer’s office and ask the officer to process for you the clearance letter.
- Submit all the required documents to the officer for verification
- The compliance officer will verify the provided document and compare them with the date in their NHT system.
- If the compliance officer is satisfied with the verification, the officer will process and issue a clearance letter.

Required DocumentsEdit
New employers will need to submit the following -
- Completed Employer Customer Information File (CIF) Form for registration
- Certificate of Incorporation
- Articles of Incorporation (which has replaced the Memorandum of Association and the Articles of Association since January 2005)
- Clearance Letter from the NIS Office
- TRN slip
Returning employers will need to submit the following -
- Outstanding Annual Return (if any)
Employed persons
- TRN Card
- NIS Card
- Last three pay slips or current job letter
- Valid Identification (Driver's license, National/Voter's ID, Passport)
- Purpose of clearance (E.g. Documents for whatever is being imported or Contract/Tender information)
- Where the NIS card is not available, if pay slips carry this number we will use in lieu. The NIS Clearance Letter can also be used.
- Where the TRN card is not available, if a Driver’s license is presented, we will use in lieu.

- A Clearance Letter is a document that is issued to a company or an individual by the NHT to verify and declare the status of that contributor's contribution payments, Annual Returns submissions and arrears (if any). It is a pre-requisite for obtaining a Tax Compliance Certificate (TCC) from the Tax Administration Jamaica (TAJ).
