Procedure

Apply In-Person

1. To apply for the Rio Tanto Alcan Legacy Scholarship, you should go to the Jamaica 4-H clubs office to apply. Please view the Jamaica 4-H clubs contact details through this link: Link
2. You can obtain the scholarship application form from your learning institution or go to any of the Jamaica 4-H club offices and collect the form at the reception
3. Complete the application form accordingly. Note that for minors under the age of 18, the form can be completed and signed by the parent or legal guardian of the student.
4. Have your referee complete the reference report form and the affidavit section to be completed by the relevant official in your institution i.e., Principal, Guidance Council, or any other relevant authority
5. After the form is completed, prepare the required supporting documents as mentioned in the “Required Document” section below and attach them to the application form in a single envelope
6. Then submit the complete application to the Jamaica 4-H Clubs office in your parish
7. After receiving your application, the 4-H Clubs relevant authority will conduct a background check on the application to verifythe information provided and then submit their report to the selection committee
8. Then the Rio Tinto Alcan Legacy Fund Agriculture committee will convene and assess the applications to determine who to award the scholarship
9. After assessment by the committee, they may decide to invitethe selected applicants for an interview then award the scholarship to applicants who have passed the interview, or the committee may select successful applicants using their application documents and award them the scholarship
10. If your application is successful and you have been awarded the scholarship, the scholarship funds may be sent directly to you using a proper channel or the funds may be disbursed through your school’s guidance department or bursar

Jamaican students pursuing agricultural education who reside or were born in the parishes of Manchester, St. Ann, and St. Catherine are eligible to apply

The Agricultural Scholarships and Bursaries are tenable at registered secondary, vocational, and tertiary levels and covers tuition, transportation, lunch, books, uniforms, and agricultural tools.
