Apply In-Person

  1. To apply for a review of a defendant held at the court’s pleasure through the Legal Aid Council, submit your legal aid application to any Legal Aid Clinic, Court’s office, or the Legal Aid Council. Please view the Legal Aid Council contacts through this link: Link
  2. Obtain the application form from any legal Aid Clinic, Court’s office, or the Legal Aid Council
  3. Complete the application form correctly and if you are below 18 years, your parent or guardian or any other adult may complete the application on your behalf
  4. Submit the application to the Legal Aid Council for review. The application can also be submitted to the Court Office which is dealing with your case, or the nearest Legal Aid Clinic, or The Registrar of the Gun Court, or The Registrar of the Supreme Court, or The Registrar of the Court of Appeal.
  5. After review of the application, you may be required to provide your proof of income or savings, earnings, or expenses
  6. Then you may be requested to contribute toward any legal fees required to process the review request. You will be provided with a bank voucher to pay your contribution at any Scotia Bank Branch and If you cannot afford it, you will not be requested to pay any fee
  7. Once the application is successful, an attorney will be assigned to your case
  8. Then the attorney will prepare the review request of the defendant and be the representant of the defendant in the court
