Apply In-Person

  1. To apply for Provisional Clearance of Goods in Jamaica, you should make your application to the Jamaica Customs Agency (JCA). Please view the JCA contact details through this link: - JCA contacts.
  2. Obtain the application form for Provisional Clearance from the JCA office or you can download the form directly through this link:- Application form for Provisional Clearance.
  3. Complete the application form in two copies, you can use the guide provided in the “Information which might help” section below to complete the form.
  4. Prepare all the relevant shipment documents related to the shipment and attach the documents to the application form.
  5. Visit the JCA office and submit the complete application to the Director or Manager of the Jamaica Customs Department at the port or station where the shipment has arrived through.
  6. Pay the deposit amount at the cashier and obtain the payment receipt and the payment value will be entered on the application form and certified by the JCA official.
  7. The JCA will examine the shipment according to the customs rules and upon conformity that the shipment meets the required custom standards, the JCA will release the shipment.
  8. Then the Examining/Releasing Officer will state the specific details of the shipment being released.
  9. Then JCA will retain the original application form and return the copy to you with all official details filled and certified.
