Apply In-Person:

  1. To Apply for Mining License, the applicant has to approach the Mines and Geology Division link
  2. An application form will be provided to the applicant by the concerned officer.Or the applicant has to download the application form from the following link
  3. The applicant has to fill in all the necessary details in the application form. (Incomplete applications are not accepted)
  4. Make sure that the applicant has attached all the necessary documents that are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
  5. The applicant has to attach the photocopies of the required documents along with the application form while submitting.
  6. Submit all the documents with the completed form to the concerned officer.
  7. The applicant has to pay the prescribed fee as requested by the authority.
  8. After receiving the application, the concerned authority will check the submitted application and document set. If all are in place, the application will be accepted.
  9. All applications are processed within a reasonable time, having regard to the particular circumstances of each application, including the completeness of information and documents submitted to the authority by the applicant.
  10. The authority may seek additional information from an applicant if this is necessary to assess the application. The authority does not need to deal further with an application until the applicant has provided this additional information.
  11. The authority will undergo a thorough inspection by a certified inspector to ensure that it meets the required standards.
  12. The estimated time between submission of the application package and granting of a quarry licence by the Minister with responsibility for mining is approximately four (4) months.

  • Proof of Ownership/Legal Access to the land on which quarrying/ Mining is to take place - land title in the name of the applicant or stamped lease agreement between the owner of the land and the applicant granting authority to the applicant to use the property for quarrying.
  • Tax Compliance Certificate - How to get a TCC.
  • Location Map - drawn to 1:12,500 scale (6 copies)
  • Survey Diagram - drawn to at least 1:6,000 scales, showing exact area to be quarried. (6 copies)
  • Company’s Certificate of Incorporation – see, register a business.
  • Company’s/Individual’s Taxpayer Registration Number- How to obtain a TRN.
  • Two (2) Character References - (for Individual only).
  • Sketch Plan – Outlining the planned operations to be undertaken and financing of said operations.

EligibilityEdit

  • Any business entity who intends to obtain mining license is eligible to make the application.



FeesEdit

  • The applicant has to pay the non-refundable fee of JMD$1,200 (per metric square or part thereof)



ValidityEdit

  • A Mining License is valid for a term not exceeding 25 years.
