- To apply for Car dealer certification, you should make your application to the Trade Board Limited (TBL). Please view the TBL contact details through this TBL contact link .
- Obtain the application form for certification for a motor vehicle dealership from the TBL office or download the form directly through this Application form for certification for motor vehicle dealership link.
- Read the form and complete it accordingly and then prepare all the required supporting documents as instructed in the last section of the application form or as mentioned in the “Required Documents” section below
- Attach all the supporting documents to the application form and visit the TBL office to submit your application.
- Pay the required fees for car dealer certification at the cashier and obtain the payment receipt.
- Submit the complete application including payment receipt to the TBL official at the service desk.
- The TBL official will receive your application and verify if the application form is completed as required and all the required supporting documents are provided.
- After the verification, the TBL official will issue you an acknowledgment receipt containing your application details.
- Then the application will be forwarded to the relevant TBL authority for further assessment.
- The TBL will assess your application and schedule an inspection date to inspect your premises.
- On the scheduled date, a TBL inspection officer will visit your premises of operation and inspected it to determine if it meets the required standard of the TBL physical condition.
- After inspection and the conduction are determined to be satisfactory to the TBL standard requirement, your application will be approved and the car dealer certificate will be processed and availed for collection at the TBL.
- Visit the TBL office and collect your certificate.
Apply Online
- To apply for the Car Dealer Certification online, you should make your application using the Jamaica Single Window for Trade (JSWIFT).Visit the JSWIFT website using this JSWIFT website link.
- On the website click on the “LOGIN” button under the information bar to go to the Sign-in page.
- Enter your “Username” and “Password” to log in to your account if you already have an account.
- If you don’t have an account, click on this hyperlink “New to JSWIFT? Sign up” at the top right of the Sign-in tab to go to the online registration form (You can refer to Wikiprocedure “Jamaica-How to Register on The Jamaica Single Window for Trade (JSWIFT) As an Individual”).
- Once you have obtained your login credentials, visit the JSWIFT login page and enter your username and password to log in to your account.
- Once in your account under the dashboard, select “License” and proceed with applying for the motor vehicle dealership.
- Enter the required general information and then the Item details, then attach all the required documents.
- Proceed to the fees page and pay the application fees using the online system and then submit your application.
- After submitting the application, it will be reviewed electronically by a JSWIFT operator to confirm that the online application is completed as required and then the application will be assigned a unique reference number.
- The application will then be forwarded electronically to the relevant certification officer at the Trade Board Limited (TBL) office.
- The officer will assess the application to ensure that it complies with the rules of car dealership certification.
- The TBL will schedule a site visit of your premises of operation and on the inspection date, a TBL inspector will conduct an inspection to verify that your premises meet the required standards set for the car dealership certification.
- Upon the inspection and it is concluded that the physical conditions are satisfactory, the TBL will approve your application and process the car dealership certificate.
- The license application will also be updated in JSWIFT as approved and you will also be informed of the approval through your email address and a soft copy of the certificate will be sent to you.
- Print the certificate and sign it then visit the Trade Board Limited (TBL) office to get the certificate authenticated.
- Submit the certificate to the certificate officer at the TLB, who will authenticate the certificate by signing and stamping it then return it to you.
- Note that: If your application is rejected, you will receive a notice of the rejection and if you are required to update the application for it to be processed, you will receive a notification with the conditions you must satisfy for the application to be completed.

- Complete application form.
- Copy of article incorporation and memorandum of association or article and certificate of incorporation.
- Copy of Business name registration certificate (sole trader/proprietorship).
- Copy of current Tax Compliance Certificate (TCC).
- Copy of Tax Registration Number (TRN) for the company.
- Copy of TRN of each director and manager if the latter is not listed as a director.
- Copy of rental or lease agreement if the premises of operation are rented or leased.
- Copy of recent current property tax receipt if the operational location is owned by directors.
- Valid work permit if the directors are foreign nationals.
- Copy of a contractual agreement between the local exclusive dealer and overseas manufacture for dealers applying for certification as importers of new motor vehicles (franchise dealers).
- National planning agency certificate.
- Application payment receipt.
- Copy of a contractual agreement between dealer and entity providing service facilities and/or spare parts (Where applicable).
- Copy of registration document and TCC for contracted entity signed by the manager/director and having the company’s seal affixed.

InstructionsEdit
For online application, the TCC is not needed for Entity Chief Registration and also you are not required to attach copies of the TCC, ID, TRN. All information entered will be validated by JSWIFT against Tax Administration Jamaica or Companies Office of Jamaica (COJ) database.
