ProcedureEdit

  • Police Certificates are available for citizens of Côte d'Ivoire, non-residents born in Côte d'Ivoire, and non-Ivoirian residents (or former residents) of Côte d'Ivoire.
  • In both cases, applications may be made in person or by mail (although the first option is strongly recommended due to unreliable local mail system).
  • When applying in person, an Ivoirian national should go to the Clerk of the Court Office, of the Court of Justice of the city of birth while a non-Ivoirian would go to the "Bureau du Casier Central" at the Ministry of Justice, located in the compound of the building called "Bloc Ministériel" in the Plateau area.
  • If the application is sent by mail, it should be addressed to:
    • For Ivoirian nationals: Monsieur le Greffier en Chef, Tribunal de Premire Instance, (Specify the City), Côte d'Ivoire
    • For foreigners: Maître Yao Kouadio Jean, Bureau du Casier Central, Ministre de la Justice, BP V 107, Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire


Local Requests

  • Citizens: Apply for a certificate at the court in the region where you were born, provide the required documents. Pay the applicable fees.
  • Non-Citizens: Apply for a certificate at the Department of Foreign Affairs. Provide the required documents and pay the applicable fees.

Non-Resident Requests

  • Citizens: You should have a representative request the certificate on your behalf at the court in the region where you were born. Provide the required documents. Pay the applicable fees.
  • Non-citizens: Contact the closest Embassy of the Republic of Côte dIvoire.

Non-residents in a country with a Cote d'Ivoire Embassy or Consulate can approach the Embassy or Consulate who will issue them a police certificate.

Note: The Embassy or Consulate can only issue the certificate if the applicant is resident in that country

Non-residents in a county with no Cote d'Ivoire Embassy or Consulate will be unable to obtain a police certificate



FeesEdit

The issuance fee is that of the Revenue Stamp. The fee for an Ivoirian national is CFA 500. A non-Ivoirian will pay CFA 5,000. (Fees are subject to change without notice.)



ValidityEdit

A certificate is valid for three months.

Local Requests

Citizens: You must apply for a certificate at the court in the region where you were born, providing the original and a photocopy of your birth certificate and your residence certificate or an address on the back of your application. You must also pay the applicable fees of 1000 cfa.

Non-Citizens: If you are not a citizen of Ivory Coast, you must apply for a certificate at the Department of Foreign Affairs. You will be required to present your residence certificate, your birth certificate and pay the applicable fees (1000 cfa).

Need for the DocumentEdit

A police certificate is an official document issued by police or government agency of a country to enumerate any criminal records that the applicant may or may not have. Criminal records may include arrest, conviction, and possibly criminal proceedings.

It is a copy of your criminal record or a declaration of the absence of any criminal record. Police clearance certificates are different in each country and territory and may be called police certificates, good conduct certificates, judicial record extracts, pcc, etc. They are issued by police authorities or government departments and used by Citizenship and Immigration to prevent individuals who possess a risk to Country's security from entering the country.

Other uses of the Document/CertificateEdit

In many immigration cases you may be requested by relevant Government to present Police Clearance Certificate from another country where you have resided for some time. If you are going through immigration process, you will definitely be asked for such a certificate.

Applicant must show documentary proof from the relevant consulate/immigration authority/government authority which clearly indicates that the production of the police clearance certificate is required.

The Police Clearance Certificate will be delivered by registered post. For overseas applicants the certificate will be dispatched through the Foreign Ministry. Overseas applicants who have applied directly to the Inspector General of Police will also have to include a self addressed envelope with stamps to the value to registered post the certificate.
