Procedure

1. Complete an application for Learner Driver Theory Test, a link is provided under 'Documents to Use' section which you can use to download the form.
2. Take or post the completed form to the Isle of Man College of Further and Higher Education (Driving Theory Test Unit), Homefield Road, Douglas, IM2 6RB. (Telephone bookings cannot be accepted).
3. Your payment can be in a form of a cheque or Postal Order payable to the Isle of Man Government.
4. Online applications are also accepted - Link. Note: If after 21 days you have not received an appointment confirmation letter, please contact the Theory Test Unit on 01624 648348.

Need for the Document

You will need to obtain a Learner Driver's Licence to be able to practice driving a vehicle on a road while being supervised by your driving instructor. You must obtain a provisional licence for the class of vehicle you intend to drive. Following is a procedure on how you can apply for one.

Information which might help

For motor bicycle learners: Those who would like learn how to ride a motor bicycle, a scooter or a 2 wheeled moped will be issued with a provisional licence that is valid only for driving such a vehicle whilst undergoing a course of Compulsory Basic Training (CBT). That restriction will no longer apply to the provisional licence once the learner rider has obtained a certificate of successful completion of the CBT course.
