Ireland - Obtain or Renew a Garda National Immigration Bureau (GNIB) Card

Registration
All non-nationals who are not citizens of a member State of the European Union, the European Economic Area or Switzerland, must register with An Garda Sochna.
After you register a valid registration certificate in the form of a GNIB Card will be issued to you.
The fee is 300 and must be paid by credit card, laser card or bank giro. This fee cannot be paid by cash.
To those residing in the Dublin Metropolitan Region you must register at the GNIB offices at 13/14 Burgh Quay, Dublin 2. The registration desk opening hours are:
Monday to Thursday: 8.00.am. to 9.00.pm
Friday: 8.00.am to 6.00.pm.
The cards are printed centrally, in batches, at the offices of the Garda National Immigration Bureau, Burgh Quay, Dublin 2.
With the introduction of the batch printing process non-nationals who register at the Registration Office, 13 - 14 Burgh Quay, Dublin 2, after 8.30.pm in the evening may be required to return the following morning to collect their certificates of registration.
Non-nationals residing outside of the Dublin Metropolitan Region will continue to register in the Registration District in which they reside and will be required to return to the same Registration Office to collect their Certificate of Registration at a later date.
Renewal
To those residing in the Dublin area:

- Go to your local Garda Sochna District Headquarters Station.
- You can also register at Baltinglass Garda Station, Co. Wicklow and Leixlip Garda Station, Co. Kildare.

EligibilityEdit
Non-EEA nationals who have entered the State with the intention of residing in Ireland for a period of more than three months
Note: Immigration certificates of registration are not issued to asylum seekers; they receive Temporary Residence Certificates from the Refugee Applications Commissioner.
FeesEdit
Immigration certificate: 300
The fee is paid at the time of registration with your local immigration registration officer.
Individuals who are exempt from paying the fee:
- Refugees, both Convention and Programme;
- Persons who have been reunified with such refugees under s.18 of the Refugee Act 1996;
- Persons who are under 18 years of age at the time of registration;
- Spouses, widow or widower of an Irish citizen;
- Dependants of EU nationals who receive a residence permit under EU Directive 38/04.
- The civil partner or surviving civil partner within the meaning of the Civil Partnership and Certain Rights and Obligations of Cohabitants Act 2010 of an Irish citizen
