ProcedureEdit

  1. Applications can be made using the Sport and Cultural Employment Permit application form.
  2. Submit the completed application along with all required documents to the Employment Permits Section of the Department of Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation.
  3. Pay the application fee.

EligibilityEdit

Foreign nationals with the relevant qualifications, skills, experience or knowledge for the development, operation and capacity of sporting and cultural activities.

Criteria


The Department of Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation examine a number of criteria when assessing Employment Permit applications, one if which is Remuneration which must be equal to the current National Minimum Wage or higher.

  • Duration of permit: Amount
  • Up to 6 months: 500
  • Up to 2 years: 1,000


Renewals:

  • Duration of permit: Amount
  • Up to 6 months: 750
  • Up to 2 years: 1,500



ValidityEdit

Sport and Cultural Employment Permits may be issued for differing periods depending on whether the contract of employment is full-time up to a maximum of two years, or seasonal.

Employment Permits are issued by the Department of Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation.

Who may apply for the permit: Either the foreign national or the employer may apply for a Sport and Cultural Employment Permit and the permit is issued to the foreign national, and a certified copy sent to the employer, which permits his or her employment in the State, by the employer, in the occupation and location/s specified on the permit.

Need for the DocumentEdit

In general, non-EEA nationals need to secure an employment permit to be able to work in Ireland. EEA and Swiss nationals do not need an employment permit.

Under the Employment Permits Acts 20032014 there are 9 types of employment permit one of which is Sport and Cultural Employment Permit.

Sport and Cultural Employment Permits are designed to facilitate the employment in the State of foreign nationals with the relevant qualifications, skills, experience or knowledge for the development, operation and capacity of sporting and cultural activities.
