PROCESS FOR CITIZEN AND NON CITIZENS OF IRAQ – FOR BOTH WHO LIVE IN IRAQ:
- I. Apply in Iraq

- Applicant can apply to “Criminal Investigation Department in Iraq”. Please dial the following number to get the address details: Phone: 0780 940 2568 (ministry of interior).
- Go to the respective office to apply.
- Don’t forget to take the required copy of documents along with originals to the office.
- Please follow as per authorities advice.
- Applicant has to provide finger print for the process.
- Submit the application along with documents.
- Applicant should pay for any charges if required as advised.
- This application will be processed by respective department.
- The certificate can be collected from the office where applicant applied in person upon notification or issued as per applicable norms.

- I. Applying process – overseas
- a. Apply at Iraq embassy or consulate in-person

- Applicant can apply at their nearest embassy or consulate in person. Link to locate the embassy or consulate: Embassy List
- Call the office and fix appointment for personal visit. Also find out the details for this procedure.
- On the scheduled date, go to the office with all the document in original and in copy. Please follow as per officer guidelines to process your application.
- This application will be processed by the respective department. The completed certificates are forwarded to the concern.
- Applicant shall collect the certificate with the respective office upon notification or can get it delivered as per norms.
PROCESS FOR CITIZENS OF IRAQ – FOR THOSE WHO LIVE OVERSEAS:

- Applicants shall apply by mail to “Directorate of Criminal Evidences Investigations”.
- Applicant has to obtain a letter from the embassy(in the country they live) to the Directorate of Criminal Evidences Investigations for applying to obtain this certificate.
- Once you got the letter, mail it along with the required set of documents and fee paid details to the address as obtained from embassy authorities.
- Please get the mail address from officials or dial the following number to get the address in Iraq : Phone: 0780 940 2568.
- The received application will be processed by respective department to issue the certificate as per deliverable mode applicable.

EligibilityEdit
- Applicant with valid passport and a valid address proof.
- Age: 16 years and above. In case of minors, the application must be submitted by the parent exercising parental authority, if the minor has not turned 16 years.
- The current address of the applicant must be same as in the passport and other supporting documents.
- Applicants who are in need of residential status, employment or long term visa or for immigration to a foreign nation.

Please note the following: -
- The form of the certificate to be given for the Iraqis is the same to be given for the Arabs or foreigners who have already staying in Iraq.
- The certificate issued needs no ratification by the Ministry of Interior.
- To put the left hand thumb print of the requester in the proper field on the certificate under the supervision of the embassy's competent official.
- To use black ink instead of the blue when taking fingerprints.
- Local Requests
- You should present your identification card or passport in person at any Criminal Investigation Department in Iraq. Fingerprints will be taken.
- Non-Resident Requests
- You should apply for a police certificate at the consular section of the nearest Iraqi embassy.

- A police certificate is an official document issued by police or government agency of a country to enumerate any criminal records that the applicant may or may not have. Criminal records may include arrest, conviction, and possibly criminal proceedings.
- You may be requested to produce these documents when you are applying for school admissions, jobs and even in court.

It is a copy of your criminal record or a declaration of the absence of any criminal record. Police clearance certificates are different in each country and territory and may be called police certificates, good conduct certificates, judicial record extracts, PCC etc. They are issued by police authorities or government departments and used by Citizenship and Immigration to prevent individuals who possess a risk to Country's security from entering the country.

It is the applicant’s responsibility to contact the relevant authorities to obtain the necessary police certificates or clearances. Each country procedures are different. Applicants may have to apply to more than one level of government or more than one agency - municipal, provincial, state, federal and the police, courts or similar governmental agencies for the police certificate. If a police certificate cannot be obtained from any of the countries on the list, provide a written explanation why and an original letter from the police authority confirming that it will not issue a certificate.
In most cases, you must contact the police or government to ask for a certificate. You may have to:

- Pay a fee.
