Iran - Renew Your Passport
ProcedureEdit
- Gather all documents that you will need to present in order to renew your passport.
- Fill out application form 111.
- Submit the completed form, along with all other required documents.
- Pay all necessary passport renewal fees.
Required DocumentsEdit
- Completed application form 111, for the company of the spouse and children of applicant. The application form must be filled out by the husband, and for having the company of his wife or via the father for having the accompanying his children in his passport or that of the mother of the children and undersigned.
- Original copy of birth certificate of the individuals accompanying the traveller and the photocopy of all the pages of the certificate.
- Two 3x4cm passport photos, not older than 6 months. Full face, front view, open eyes, a plain white background & without a hat, glasses or neck scarves. According to the regulations of the IRI, women applicants should be wearing head scarves. Note: The applicant must also remember to include their personal details on the backside of the passport photos.
- Photocopy of the residence permits card

EligibilityEdit
Iranian passports can be renewed in the following cases:
- Expiry of the 5 or 10 year validity of the previous passport
- No more blank pages left in the passport
- The passport holder has evidence of being registered under a new name, surname, or date of Birth; in which case it is required provide that the passport holder's Iranian Birth Certificate, or "Shenasname" be presented

Need for the DocumentEdit
A passport is a document, issued by the national government. It certifies the identity and nationality of the holder for travel abroad. It contains information about the holder; like name, gender, date and place of birth.
This document does not in itself entitle the passport holder entry into another country, nor consular protection while abroad nor any other privileges. However, it does normally allows the passport holder to return to the country where the passport was issued.
Rights to consular protection arises from international treaties, while the holder's return to the issuing country depends on the laws prevailing in that country.
