Driver's License:

If you are under 75 years of age, the BMV uses a staggered schedule for driver's license renewal. Your Indiana driver's license is valid for either four, five, or six years. If you are 75 to 84 years old, your license is valid for three years. If you are 85 years or older, your license is valid for two years.

If you are less than 18 years old when you get your license, your license is considered probationary and must be renewed:

  • On or before your 21st birthday if the license was issued on or before June 30, 2009; or
  • On or before the 30th day after your 21st birthday if the license was issued on or after July 1, 2009.

You may amend your license after you turn 18 years old to remove the probationary driver's license designation.
