Apply In-Person:
- An application for the renewal (additional period required to complete the prospecting work) of a prospecting licence shall be made to the respective office of the assistant director of mines and geology (ADM & G) of their respective district in whose jurisdiction the area falls as appropriate.

- Please visit the respective office and consult with the designated authority about the application procedure. Collect the application form or write on a plain A4 sheet as advised.
- Application form can also be downloaded using the following link please refer to page number 53.
- Complete the application form. Attach all the required documents as per our “Required Documents” section of this page and submit the application form in 3 sets along with the documents to the designated receiving authority in person.
- Please pay the applicable application fee, non-refundable fee for renewal as per the acceptable mode (demand draft/challan) as appropriate. Please refer to the “Fees” section of this page for more details.
- After receiving the application, authorities will check the application and document set. If all are in place, the application will be accepted.
- Authorities will make entries about this application in the manual record or electronically using the computer and provide a record number for reference.
- The authority will also sign and seal one set (photo copy of the original) of the application and return it to the applicant. This signed application is also the proof for the submission of the application.
- Please keep them safe for future reference.
- The respective State Government will send an acknowledgement of receipt of the renewal application to the holder of the prospecting licence within a period of three days of receipt thereof.
- ”SMS” triggered update on application status will be sent to the applicant’s mobile. So, keep track of the notification from the department.
- This application will be processed further. The application will be examined by the respective department.
- The renewal process is one and the same as per the original grant of licence.
- The application will be forwarded to the concerned tahsildar or the concerned authority for seeking the classification and availability certificate (NOC).
- On receipt of the “NOC”, the assistant director of mining and geology or the designated authority will inspect the area along with the concerned surveyor for demarcation of the area as per the renewal requested area.
- Based on the above activities, a proposal will be submitted to the issuing authority as applicable for additional period required to complete the prospecting work.
- The applicants are advised to adhere to the department's requirement. Please follow the notification and guidelines of the department to get the licence renewed.
- The status, viz. Approval will be conveyed to the applicant through a “SMS”.
- Please follow the notification and guidelines of the department to execute the lease for the renewed period.

Please keep a copy of the challan / DD for record purpose and will be useful for future reference.

- Authorization letter if the applicant is an authorized person and his/her aadhaar card
- Statement containing the following details
- Written reasons for seeking renewal
- A report of the details of prospecting operations undertaken by the applicant
- The details of expenditure incurred
- The numbers of man days for which the work was undertaken and
- The justification for the additional period required to complete the prospecting work.
- A sketch drawn to the scale demarcating the boundaries for easy identification on the ground, duly signed by the applicant and by a qualified surveyor
- Affidavit showing the details of the existing leases (also the details of filed and pending applications)
- A copy of “Mineral Dues Clearance Certificate – MDCC” stating that no dues to the government
- Challan for the prescribed amount
- In case applicant is a company, an attested copy of the certificate of registration of the company
- The IT return for the last 3 years
- A copy of the village map showing the area applied for
- ”GST” certificate
- ”PAN” card
- Passport size photo as per requirement
- A self-addressed envelope with stamp affixed for the advised amount
- Aadhaar card
- Approved Mining Plan (AMP) as per requirement
- Environment Clearance (EC) as per requirement
- Consent for Establishment (CFE) as per requirement

EligibilityEdit
A valid prospecting licence holder or firm shall apply.
An application for the renewal of a prospecting licence shall be made ninety days before the expiry of the prospecting licence.
FeesEdit
- A non-refundable fee of rupees one thousand (the amount as per the state norms) per square kilometre on a pro rata basis of the area over which the renewal of the prospecting licence is applied for.
- The fees and charges vary across the States in India. Please pay the fee and other charges as prescribed by the authorities at the time of application.
- Demand draft obtained in favour of the assistant director of mines and geology (or as per the authority) of the district concerned in whose jurisdiction the area falls.
- The application fee and deposit are subject to revision from time to time.
ValidityEdit
- The composite licence or lease should be renewed before the lapse of the validity period.
- A composite licence shall, if the state government is satisfied that a longer period is required to enable the licensee to complete prospecting operations be renewed for such period or periods as that government may specify. Provided that the total period for which a prospecting licence is granted does not exceed five years.
- If the lease is granted for only one year, then the authority does not have power or authority to renew the lease.
- The initial licence issued may be granted for a maximum of three years.

Processing TimeEdit
- An application for the renewal of a prospecting licence shall be disposed of by the State Government before the expiry of the period of prospecting licence.
- The whole process shall be completed within thirty to sixty days from the date of receipt of the application or as per the advised time period.

- This licence may be terminated in respect of the entire or any part of the premises by six-month notice in writing on either side.

- No mining lease shall be granted by the state government unless it is satisfied that, there is a mining plan duly approved by the central government or by the state government, in respect of such category of mines as may be specified by the central government, for the development of mineral deposits in the area concerned.
- Incomplete application will be rejected.
- Avoid spelling mistakes while filling the application form.
- At any stage, if the document submitted by the applicant is found to be false, then the licence/lease issued shall be liable to be cancelled.

Need for the DocumentEdit
- There may be a situation and need for the valid prospecting licence holder to apply for the additional period required to complete the prospecting work for which a prospecting licence was issued.
- Without the renewal, the extension of time to carry further exploration will not be allowed.
- The composite licence or lease is required for those areas where the preliminary exploration has been done by the government, but further exploration is required by mining companies.
- No person shall undertake any mining operations in any area, except under and in accordance with the terms and conditions of a mining lease, granted as per the act and the rules made thereunder.

- The application must be duly signed by an authorized representative of the applicant, in case the applicant is a company. In case the applicant is an individual, the applicant must personally sign the application
- The corporate authorization of the authorized signatory of the applicant (which is a company) must be enclosed with the application. Any change in such corporate authorization must be immediately intimated to the state government.
