India - Link PAN to Aadhaar

Apply In-Person:
- To link your PAN with your Aadhaar manually, visit the nearest Protean eGov Technologies Ltd branch office Link to Addresses.
- Fill the relevant form to link your PAN with Aadhaar.
- No supporting documents are required to be submitted along with the form (unless specified by the authority).
- The submitted application along with any attached documents will be forwarded for further verifications.
- Once all the internal processes are over, the Aadhaar will be linked to PAN.
- Please ascertain that your name, date of birth and gender mentioned in your PAN card matches with the details on your Aadhaar card to successfully complete the process.
- It can take around two to three working days for the procedure to be completed.
Apply Online:
- To link PAN to Aadhaar online, open the Income Tax e-filing portal Link
- Register on it (if not already done). Your PAN (Permanent Account Number) will be your user id.
- Log in by entering the User ID, password and date of birth.
- A pop up window will appear, prompting you to link your PAN with Aadhaar. If not, go to “Profile Settings” on Menu bar and click on “Link Aadhaar”.
- Details such as name date of birth and gender will already be mentioned as per the PAN details.
- Verify the PAN details on screen with the ones mentioned on your Aadhaar.
- Please note that if there is a mismatch, you need to get the same corrected in either of the documents.
- If the details match, enter your Aadhaar number and click on the “link now” button.
- A pop-up message will inform you that your Aadhaar has been successfully linked to your PAN.
Apply Online (without registration on IT portal):
- To link PAN to Aadhaar online without registering on IT portal, visit the Income Tax Site by clicking on the Link.
- Under “Quick Links”, click on “Link Aadhaar”.
- Provide the PAN, Aadhaar number, and name as mentioned in the Aadhaar card
- Enter details such as PAN Number, Aadhaar number, your name on Aadhaar, and your mobile number, Tick the square if only the birth year in mentioned in the Aadhaar card, and also tick the box where you agree to get your Aadhaar details validated.
- Click on “Link Aadhaar”.
- Enter the Captcha code. (Visually challenged users can request for an OTP instead of the captcha code. The OTP will be sent on the registered mobile number)
- Click on the “Link Aadhaar” button.
- To check the status of your PAN-Aadhaar status, click on “Link Aadhaar Status” under the “Quick Links” tab.
- Enter your PAN and Aadhaar number and click on “View Link Aadhaar Status” to view the status of your PAN-Aadhaar linking.
Apply through SMS:
- To link PAN to Aadhaar via SMS, simply type UIDPAN<12-digit Aadhaar><10-digit PAN> on your mobile.
- Send it to 567678 or 56161.
- To check the status of linking of Aadhaar with PAN via the SMS, you will have to send an SMS to 567678 or 56161 in format given below:
- UIDPAN < 12-digit Aadhaar number> < 10-digit Permanent Account Number>
- If your Aadhaar has been successfully linked with PAN then you will be able to see the message: “Aadhaar (Aadhaar number) is already associated with PAN in ITD database. Thank you for using our services”.

EligibilityEdit
For Pan
- All Indian citizens having the source of income and valid proofs (as prescribed by the Income Tax Department) are eligible to apply for PAN card.
For Aadhaar
- Any resident of India (newborns/minors) is eligible for an Aadhaar card. While the Aadhaar card is for adults, Baal Aadhaar is for children below five years.
- NRIs and foreigners staying in India for more than 12 months are eligible for the Aadhaar.
FeesEdit
Applicants will be required to pay a fee of Rs. 500 up to three months from 1st April, 2022 and a fee of Rs.1000 after that.

InstructionsEdit
The last date to link the Aadhaar and Permanent Account Number (PAN) has been extended by the government until 31 March 2023. If not linked, the PAN card will become “inoperative” and a penalty of Rs.10,000 will be levied under Section 272B of the IT Act.
