Apply In-Person:

  1. Any applicant who wants to vaccinate their animals must approach the nearest veterinary centre in their location.
  2. Vaccination may be done in a consolidated manner. Check the temperature and the health status of the animal before vaccination.
  3. Deworm animals and remove ectoparasites one or two weeks before vaccination. Find a list of deworming schedules for animals in India in the "Information that might help" section below of this page.
  4. After that, visit the nearest veterinary hospital or contact the offices mentioned below in the "Office Locations & Contacts" section of this page and make an appointment in person to consult with a veterinary expert from a recognised veterinary centre/hospital and follow a vaccination schedule.
  5. The vaccination schedule shall be authorized by a recognised veterinary practitioner.
  6. If the applicant has already given one vaccine dose to the animal, a vaccination certificate along with the vaccination schedule card may be required for the next dose.
  7. The applicant shall keep a record of the vaccines, it's names, dates and doses.
  8. The applicant must follow post-vaccine guidelines such as temperature control for the vaccinated animal, maintaining a stress-free environment and so on.


NOTE:

  • The animal must be in good health during the time of vaccination.
  • Do not vaccinate an animal who is stressed due to unfavourable climatic conditions, scarcity of food and water or at the time of disease outbreaks or even while on transportation.
  • Stray dogs, street animals and government subsidized farm animals are registered and vaccinated by Animal Husbandry and Municipal Corporation, Government Of India.

  • An animal can get its first vaccination dose at 45 days of age.
  • FMD- 4 months and above
  • HS - 6months and above
  • BQ- 6 months and above
  • Brucellosis - 4-8 months (female calves)
  • Theileriosis - 3 months and above.
  • Anthrax - 4 months and above
  • IBR - 3 months and above
  • Rabies (Post bite)- Immediately after bite.



FeesEdit

  • Cost of each dose of Anti-Rabies vaccine in India:
  • Government hospital: Free of cost/negligible.
  • Private hospital: Rs. 300-400/- (approx.) for each dose.

Information which might helpEdit

Deworming of the pet dog:

  • Eligible at the age of 2 weeks (in puppies).
  • Given through oral syrup (1ml per kg bodyweight).
  • Can be given at the time of vaccination but prior deworming is preferable.
  • Given every two weeks till the age of 3 months.
  • Given every month from the age of 3 to 6 months.
  • Given every 3 months after the age of 6 months.


Core Vaccination Schedule for pet dogs:
1st Vaccination: DHPP( Against Canine Distemper, Parvo, Hepatitis, Para Influenza) and leptospirosis is provided.

  • After 21 days interval:
  • 2nd Vaccination: Repeat Booster Dose of 1st Vaccination of DHPP and Lepto shall be given.
  • After 90 days interval:
  • 3rd Vaccination: Vaccination against Rabies and 3rd Booster dose of DHPP is given.
  • After that every year the dog should be taken to the veterinary for an annual booster dose of Anti Rabies and DHPP Vaccination.

Other Vaccination:
After the Administration of the Core Vaccinations, the veterinary may give vaccination of Dog against KC ( Kennel Cough) and Canine Corona if required. However, these are non-core vaccines and they are not compulsory.
