Apply Online
- To Apply for Petrol Station License, the applicant has to make the application online via Petrol Pump Dealer Chayan portal by using the following link
- The applicant must click “Register Now” button and enter the required credentials and create login id and Password.
- After registration, applicant can login to the portal with his/her login credentials.
- After successfully logging in to the portal, applicant can see the following information
- Dashboard
- Available Advertisements
- Applied Advertisements
- Profile
- Change Password
- Applicant has to click on “Available Advertisement” Link/Button and select the advertisement (Company wise / State wise) for which he/she wants to apply.
- All the locations under the selected advertisement will be displayed on clicking “View Details”.
- Select the location for which he/she wants to apply and click on “Apply” button.
- After clicking Apply Button, applicant will be redirected to the Application form.
- Note: Session of 40 minutes for filling the Application form will be provided. Application form will not be saved unless inputs are provided in all the fields.
- Upon filling all the relevant details, Applicant can either save or finally submit the Application form, by clicking the respective Buttons
- After filling in all the details in the application form, click the “Submit & Proceed to Pay” button to pay the application fee online
- To make online payment, go to “Applied Advertisement” link, the same is available on the Applicant Dashboard.
- All the applications of applicant will be displayed on the screen. If the application is submitted for a particular location and payment is pending to be done, the same can be paid by clicking on “Pay Online” button.
- On clicking, the applicant will be redirected to the next page giving the details for amount of application fee. For making payment click on “Proceed to Pay”
- The fee details are mentioned in “Fees” section of this page.
- After successful payment is done, the applicant can download a PDF copy of the application from “Applied Advertisement” Link available on Applicants Dashboard.
- All applications are processed within a reasonable time, having regard to the circumstances of each application, including the completeness of information and documents submitted to the authority by the applicant.
- After acceptance of application the authority will issue the license
- This entire process can be completed within 30 days or as per the timeline advised by the respective department authority.

EligibilityEdit
Basic Requirement
- To be eligible to obtain a Petrol Station License and start a petrol pump, the individual must be an Indian Citizen and a resident of India, as per the Income Tax rules.
- The applicant must also be not less than 21 years old and not more than 55 years
Education requirement
- All applicants making an application for a petrol pump dealership must have basic education.
- Rural petrol pump applicants who are SC/ST or OBC must have passed minimum 10th standard and all other applicants must have passed a minimum 10+2 level of examination.
- In case of an application under an open category, the applicant must have passed a minimum 10+2 level of examination for rural petrol pumps.
Investment Requirement
To start a petrol pump, the applicant must show the ability to invest a minimum of Rs.25 lakhs in case of regular petrol pumps and Rs.12 lakhs in case of rural petrol pumps. The funds for investment can be in the following forms:
- Funds in savings accounts, deposits with Bank/Registered Companies/Postal Schemes
- National Savings Certificates, etc
- Bonds
- Shares of listed Companies in Demat Form
- Mutual Funds
Land Requirement
The land is a major criterion in the selection of petrol pump dealers.
- Applicants must either own the land or lease for the period agreed upon by the oil dealership.
- This land should be easily accessible and should be developed and levelled.
- All legal documentation of this land must be in place for the verification process.
- Depending on its location, this land area should be at least between 800 sq. meters to 2000 sq. meters.
FeesEdit
- The applicant has to pay the prescribed fee of 10,000 INR.
ValidityEdit
- The validity of a petrol pump license is usually 10 years. The license can be renewed after the expiry of the validity period.
