Apply In Person

  1. To Apply for Approval of Fire Fighting Scheme, the applicant has to approach the Directorate General-Fire Services, Civil Défense & Home Guards link
  2. Consider hiring a professional fire safety consultant or an architect/engineer with expertise in fire safety to assess the property or project and design an appropriate Fire Fighting Scheme.
  3. The fire safety consultant will assess the property's layout, occupancy, and fire hazards to design a Fire Fighting Scheme that includes fire prevention measures, fire detection systems, firefighting equipment, and emergency evacuation plans.
  4. An application form will be provided to the applicant by the concerned officer.
  5. The applicant has to fill in all the necessary details in the application form. (Incomplete applications are not accepted)
  6. Make sure that the applicant has attached all the necessary documents that are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
  7. The applicant has to attach photocopies of the required documents along with the application form while submitting it.
  8. Submit all the documents with the completed form to the concerned officer.
  9. The applicant has to pay the prescribed fee as requested by the authority.
  10. After receiving the application, the concerned authority will check the submitted application and document set. If all are in place, the application will be accepted.
  11. An acknowledgment receipt will be provided. Please save it for future reference.
  12. Then the application will be processed further. All the updates on the application status will be sent via SMS to the applicant’s mobile number.
  13. Once the process gets completed, the applicant gets a call from the office regarding the application.
  14. The local fire department will review the submitted Fire Fighting Scheme and may conduct an on-site inspection to verify compliance with the fire safety requirements.
  15. If the fire department identifies any issues or observations during the review or inspection, address them promptly and make the necessary modifications to the Fire Fighting Scheme.
  16. Once the Fire Fighting Scheme is found to be compliant with the fire safety regulations, the local fire department will issue an approval letter or a No Objection Certificate (NOC) allowing the implementation of the scheme.
  17. Implement the approved Fire Fighting Scheme as per the specifications and guidelines provided by the fire department. Ensure that all fire safety measures are properly installed and maintained.
  18. This entire process can be completed within 1 – 2 months or as per the timeline advised by the respective department authority.

EligibilityEdit

The Fire Services Department of the Government of India is responsible for approving firefighting schemes in India. The following are the eligibility criteria for applying for approval of a firefighting scheme:

  • The applicant must be the owner or occupier of the premises for which the firefighting scheme is being applied for.
  • The premises must be located in an area where there is a fire station within a radius of 5 kilometres.
  • The premises must be of a size and occupancy that warrants the installation of a firefighting system.
  • The applicant must have a valid fire insurance policy for the premises.
