Need for the DocumentEdit

You will need to have a tax card if you are planning on working in Iceland.

In order to have the right amount of tax deducted to your total tax due, you have to give your employer your tax card. The tax card entitles you to personal tax credit of kr. 50.498 per month (for the year 2014). Without your tax card your employer has to deduct full tax, from the salary, without any tax credit. The same applies if you have other income such as pension, benefits etc.

The tax card, holders are entitled to a tax credit for the time they stay in Iceland, example: from the day the taxpayer arrived in Iceland and up to the day he/she leaves the country.
