ProcedureEdit

EligibilityEdit
Icelandic citizen may only take a surname spouse middle.
Icelanders living abroad must apply for a name change in their domicile country and send the National Registry confirming that the name change has occurred in the domicile country.
You need to fill out a form on the web National Registry of Iceland.

Statistics Iceland to various conditions allowed change in their own name, middle name and / or surname if the conditions of the Personal Names Act are met. Name change generally refers to the legal act by a person of adopting a name different from their name at birth, marriage or adoption. The procedures and ease of a name change vary between jurisdictions.

Statistics Iceland to the various conditions set out in Annex VI. Chapter legislation can allow changes in their own name, middle name and / or surname (for example, a child will be taught to stjp- or foster parent). Such changes shall be allowed only once unless special circumstances apply.
