Procedure

1. Obtain the proof of birth from the Hospital.
2. Name your child.
3. One have to go to the local municipalitys registry office (Anyaknyvi Hivatal) and request the certificate.

Local municipalitys registry office in the place where the birth happened.

One can find the address of the local registry office on the following site: https://kozigazgatas.magyarorszag.hu/ There is a section called finding an office("Hivatalkeres?") on the bottom of the site. One have to select Anyaknyvvezet? in the drop down list, then next to the Telepls neve (place of birth, the city or village) then the Keress button will show the results. It will show the exect place on a map with contact information as well.

Eligibility

Any Hungarian nationality owner can request a Hungarian birth certificate.

Fees

It is free to obtain it, but if it is lost, 2000 Forints have to be paid to request a new one.

Instructions

It is issued by the local municipalitys registry office (Anyaknyvi Hivatal), or at a Hungarian embassy. It is also possible to give someone else authorization for the request.

Need for the Document

A Birth Certificate is the most important identity document that makes it possible for anyone in possession of it to benefit from services offered by the Government. It is mandatory under law to register a birth. A birth certificate is the starting document for almost all services in Hungary and also consequently allows an individual to get a number of other government documents.

The birth certificate is the only accepted document for establishing date and place of birth. A birth have to be reported on the next workday as latest.
