Hong Kong - Renew Firearms Licence (Shooting Club)

ProcedureEdit

  1. To renew a Firearms Licence for shooting club members, you will need to file an application with the Arms Licensing Department. Make an appointment with the Police Licensing Office to submit application and to attend an interview by the responsible police officer(s). You can book an appointment between three months and not later than one month prior to the expiry of the licence. Any appointment scheduled less than one month prior to the expiry of the licence period is not advisable and may lead to the processing of the application not being completed before the licence expires.
    You are required to submit in person the completed application form to the Police Licensing Office on the scheduled date.
  2. Links to application form are provided under 'Documents to Use' section which you can use to download the application form.
  3. Submit the completed form together with all other required documents.
  4. Pay the application fee.

Exemption under Section 4(3) of the Ordinance (per permit) : (HK$) 620 :

  • Licence for Possession (issue or renewal) granted to a security guard : 275
  • In any other case : 2,370


For the issue of a licence for possession or a dealer’s licence granted for a limited purpose under section 30(1) of the Ordinance (per licence) Dealer’s Licence (issue or renewal) : 105:

  • Restricted to a prescribed class or description of arms or ammunition or both : 5,650
  • Restricted to used cartridge cases, used shot, used bullets, used missiles or parts of any of those articles : 5,460
  • In any other case  : 12,850


Firearms and Ammunition (Storage Fees) Order, (Cap 238 sub. leg. B):

  • Fee for storing arms (for each article for each month or part thereof): 160
  • Fee for storing imitation firearms (for each article for each month or part thereof): 160
  • Fee for storing ammunition (for each 100 rounds of ammunition or part thereof, for each month or part thereof): 160
  • Fee for storage arms and ammunition awaiting transshipment where the arms and ammunition are stored in a box, crate or similar container(for each 50 kg gross weight or part thereof, for each month or part thereof): 120


A4 Photocopying Charge (per copy) : 1.2


Note: Crossed cheque payment should be made to “The Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region”.


Payment Method:

  • Cash;
  • Cheques, Drafts and Cashiers Orders should be made payable to “The Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region” or “The Government of the HKSAR” and crossed;
  • Octopus (add value service will not be provided);
  • EPS.

  • You can have your Licence for Possession approved only if there is a continual legitimate need for you to possess the existing arms for use of club members.
  • Licence granted is subject to terms and conditions.
  • Licensee who fails to comply with any term or condition of the licence commits an offence under Section 23 of the Firearms and Ammunition Ordinance, Cap. 238.
