Procedure

Apply In-Person :

1. To renew for Tourist Vehicle Permit (Jeep/Omni/Car) in Himachal Pradesh the applicant has to approach the RTO office to which his area belongs to. Following link can provide you information related to the list of RTO office : RTO Office
2. Please make sure you have all the documents that are listed down the “Required Document” section of this page.
3. Application forms can also be obtained from the appropriate RTO offices that can be completed and presented with appropriate fees.
4. Present the completed application forms in one of the counter and pay the appropriate fee where the officials would start processing your application.
5. Important verification’s for the permit includes Vehicle condition, Body built, seating arrangements etc...will be carried by authorities.
6. After checking the vehicle for its correctness and other appropriate requirements the application will be processed further.
   
   

Apply through Centres:

1. To apply through centres, the applicant has to visit the respective “CSC” centre. Please tap on the following link to locate the centre according to the respective district: link.
2. Make sure to have the documents that are listed under the “Required Documents” section of this page.
3. An application form can be obtained through the kiosk operator upon visiting the centre.
4. It is advised to take the documents in original to the kiosk for scanning purposes.
5. The operator will process the application online.
6. On successful submission, the applicant will receive an application number as acknowledgement.
7. Pay the fee as given in the “Fees” section of this page and collect the receipt.
8. After the application form is processed, an enquiry officer will make a thorough verification regarding the documents submitted along with the form.
9. Collect the acknowledgment slip after submitting the form.
10. The applicant will get the license in a stipulated period of time.

1. Valid Tourist Vehicle permit certificate.
2. Registration Certificate of the vehicle.
3. Fitness Certificate.
4. Proof of payment of tax for the current Quarter.
5. Insurance Certificate.
6. No object certificate from the financier if the vehicle concerned is covered by HPA / Lease / Hypothecation.
7. Payment of green tax wherever applicable.
8. Passport size photo-2
9. Pollution under control certificate
10. Aadhaar Card

Validity

A tourist vehicle permit shall be valid for...

1. 9 years in the case of a motor cab (passenger not exceeding 6 excluding driver)
2. 8 years for vehicles other than a motor cab
3. Unless the motor vehicle is replaced
4. In case of a vehicle covered by a tourist permit is proposed to be replaced by another vehicle, the new vehicle age should not be more than two years

Note: The period [9 years or 8 years] shall be computed from the date of initial registration of the motor vehicle.

Applicants may approach the Office of the Deputy Commissioner / Chairman (STA) who is in charge of issuing and renewing of Tourist Vehicle Permits.

Need for the Document

1. The vehicle permit should be renewed as and when it has expired or about to expire in order to use the vehicle for tourist rental purpose
2. As per Central Motor Vehicle Rules of 1989, Tourist Vehicle Permit is granted to owners whose vehicles are used for tourism purposes.
3. Tourist Vehicle Permit (Jeep/Omni/Car) is needed for a tourist vehicle operator for the vehicle to carry passengers on a rental basis from one place to another
4. This motor vehicle are constructed or adapted to carry allowed number of passengers as per permit, but not more than the allowed number of passengers, excluding the driver for hire purpose
