Procedure

Apply In-Person :

1. To apply for Goods Carriage National Permit in Himachal Pradesh the applicant has to approach the RTO office to which his area belongs to. Following link can provide you information related to the list of RTO office : RTO Office
2. Application in Form 48 is required. Application forms can be obtained from the following link : Form
3. Application for the grant of authorisation is in Form 46. Link for form : Form 46
4. Please make sure you have all the documents that are listed down the “Required Document” section of this page.
5. Application forms can also be obtained from the appropriate RTO offices that can be completed and presented with appropriate fees.
6. Present the completed application forms in one of the counter and pay the appropriate fee where the officials would start processing your application
7. Important verifications for the permit includes Vehicle condition, Body built, Capacity to withstand the load etc.; will be carried by authorities.
8. After checking the vehicle for its correctness and other appropriate requirements the application will be processed.

3. Registration Certificate of the vehicle.
4. Fitness Certificate.
5. Proof of payment of tax for the current quarter.
6. Insurance Certificate.
7. Authorization fee of Rs.1000/- in the bank draft.
8. No object certificate from the financier if the vehicle concerned is covered by HPA / Lease / Hypothecation.
9. Payment of green tax wherever applicable.
10. Demand drafts drawn in favor of the authorities prescribed in respect of other states towards payment of composite taxes.
11. Age Proof (any one of the following) :

    2. Birth Certificate
    3. Residence proof any one of the following :
    4. Electoral Roll
    5. Ration Card
    6. LIC Policy
    7. Passport
12. Aadhaar Card
13. Pollution under control certificate

Eligibility

Applicant should be the owner of the vehicle.

The age of the vehicle should not exceed 12 years for Goods Carriage National Permit.

Validity

Permit is usually valid for 5 years

The renewal of permit can be obtained with Vehicle fitness certificate and FC as per authorities of concerned RTO

The age of the vehicle is also considered to restrict the validity of the permit

Note : Validity differs with the type of vehicle and also for the load the vehicle can manage

2. Father’s Name
3. Present and permanent Address
4. Details of other permits held in respect of vehicle
5. Details of total number of permits held by the applicant
6. Make of motor vehicle
   

Need for the Document

1. If National Permit is obtained for the vehicle can be operated throughout India.
2. Goods Carriage National Permit is needed for a vehicle operator to ply his vehicle in more than 4 states.
3. Goods Carriage National Permit means a permit granted by authority to a goods carriage vehicle to operate through-out India or in such States not being less than four in number including the states in which the permit is issued
4. The age of the vehicle should not exceed 12 years.
