Gujarat - Obtain License or Permit for Fishing Craft or Vessel

ProcedureEdit

  1. The applicants are required to register their fishing craft or vessel before applying for a license for the fishing craft or vessel.
  2. Register the Fishing Craft or Vessels in ports. The fishing vessels or crafts must have one base port on the east coast and one on the west coast.


Apply In-Person:

  1. Applicants must visit the offices or sub-offices of Department of Fisheries in your respective districts to apply for “Fishing Craft or Vessel Registration/License”. Contact Link
  2. Collect the “Fishing Craft or Vessel Registration/License” form from the office of fisheries.
  3. Now complete the form with the necessary information and make sure you have all the documents in hand that are listed under the “Required Documents” section of this page.
  4. After filling the form, attach the documents mentioned in the “Required Documents” section below with the completed application form.
  5. Check the application form and then submit it to the concerned authority.
  6. Now pay the required application fee to the concerned authority.
  7. The verification officer after validating the application form and the documents will provide you with an acknowledgement/receiving slip.
  8. Collect the acknowledgement/receiving slip and keep it safe for future reference.
  9. The application will be processed further internally by the concerned authorities.
  10. Next, you will get a call from the Inspection authorities for inspection of the fishing craft or vessel.
  11. The authorities will arrive at the site on the said date and time to inspect the fishing craft or vessel.
  12. After the inspection, the concerned authority will forward the inspection report to the verification officer.
  13. If the verification authority is satisfied with the report then the license will be processed.
  14. Once it is processed, and the license is ready, the applicant will receive an SMS or call on the registered mobile number to collect it.
  15. The applicant will be required to carry the acknowledgement/receiving slip along with them when going to collect the license from the office or sub-office of the Department of Fisheries of their respective district.

  2. Collect the “Fishing Craft or Vessel Registration/License” form from the office of fisheries.
  3. Now complete the form with the necessary information and make sure you have all the documents in hand that are listed under the “Required Documents” section of this page.
  4. After filling the form, attach the documents mentioned in the “Required Documents” section below with the completed application form.
  5. Check the application form and then submit it to the data entry operator.
  6. Now pay the required application fee to the concerned authority.
  7. After physical verification of the application form and the documents, the data entry officer will enter the data and upload the documents in the ‘RealCraft’ Portal and submit it. RealCraft Portal
  8. Data operator will provide you with an acknowledgement/receiving slip.
  9. Collect the acknowledgement/receiving slip and keep it safe for future reference.
  10. Once the operator submits the application in the portal, it will directly go to the verification officer.
  11. The application will be processed further internally by the concerned authorities.
  12. Next, you will get a call from the Inspection authorities for inspection of the fishing craft or vessel.
  13. The authorities will arrive at the site on the said date and time to inspect the fishing craft or vessel.
  14. After the inspection, the concerned authority will forward the inspection report to the verification officer.
  15. If the verification authority is satisfied with the report then the license will be processed.
  16. Once it is processed, and the license is ready, the applicant will receive an SMS or call on the registered mobile number to collect it.

EligibilityEdit

  • Fishermen should have a valid registration certificate or Fisherman’s fishing vessel should be registered.
  • Fishermen who are actively involved in fishing for livelihood.
  • The applicant must be a resident of India.

  • Mechanised fishing vessels above 15 metres or above 25 G.T - INR 300
  • Mechanised fishing vessels up to 15 metres or up to 25 G.T - INR 100
  • Country Crafts above 8.5 metres - INR 50
  • Country Craft up to 8.5 metres including canoes and catamaran - INR 20



ValidityEdit

  • A license or permit granted for fishing shall be valid for a year unless it is suspended or cancelled earlier.

InstructionsEdit

  • Letter of Permission in writing is required from the Department of Fisheries for operating any fishing vessel or craft in Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) of India.
  • The operations of Indian deep-sea vessels or crafts will be governed by the executive orders issued or will be issued from time to time by the Government of India.
  • The letter of permission must not be transferred to any other company or individual unless it is approved by the Department of Fisheries.
  • The area of operations of deep-sea fishing vessels or crafts will be regulated by the orders or instructions issued by the Government of India
  • The fishing vessels or crafts should not engage in any other activity other than fishing.
  • The operators will not be granted permission to fish in the areas covered by the coastline.
  • The operators should perform only the type of fishing for which permission has been granted to them.
  • The operators should not exploit any species of marine turtles, fishes, and mammals that have been declared as endangered in the Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972.
  • The fishing vessel shall not resort to fishing activities such as bottom trawling, pair trawling, and bull trawling.
  • The operators should not violate the Code of Conduct for Responsible Fisheries (CCRF).
  • The fishing vessels or crafts must have one base port on the east coast and one on the west coast.
  • Operators who are willing to engage foreign crew on board must comply with Visa clearance or landing permit as required. Also, the operator must provide the Department of Fisheries a list of foreign crew member’s name, passport no / seaman book, nationality, designation, address etc.
  • The navigation channel shall not be obstructed by the vessel either mechanized or non-mechanized by operating any type of fishing gear.
  • 200 meters on the river mouths on both upstream and downstream, shall not be obstructed by operating any active or passive fishing gear where the fishing base is established.
  • The fishing vessel should not be anchors on the river mouth or navigational channel.
  • Inspecting officers or Licensing officer should be allowed to inspect the fishing vessel whenever required.
  • The departure and arrival timing, specified by the concerned authorised officer, shall be followed strictly by the fishing vessels.
  • The fishing vessels shall not operate during the prohibited period of the year and prohibited area as specified from time to time by the concerned authorised Officer.
  • The fishing vessels shall not carry, with them any explosion or objectionable weapons.
