Apply In-Person

  1. Application form for crop insurance scheme (WBCIS) in available for Gujarat agriculture department or Tehsildar Office contact link
  2. Applicants approach the agriculture department or tehsildar office and applicants get their application form for crop insurance scheme (WBCIS).
  3. Applicant has to enter all information in the application form.
  4. Applicant must make sure to carry all necessary documents that are mentioned under “Required Documents” section of this page. (Both photocopies and originals.
  5. Applicant should attach photocopies of documents (whichever is necessary) along with the application form while submitting it at the office.
  6. Fee for this procedure has to be paid as per authority’s request.
  7. If all above –mentioned procedures were followed properly by the applicant, the crop insurance will be provided.
  8. Generally, the processing time for this procedure is taken 30-45 days.
  9. Applicant can collect their insurance by visiting the office after receiving the notification.



Apply online

  1. Applicants go to online website. link
  2. In the given new window, click “login/register” button under “Login/Register to Avail following Facilities” on the left part of the screen.
  3. User will reach login page. Please enter “Mobile No”, “Password” and “captcha” as appropriate and click “Login” button.
    • If you are a new user then user please use the “Don’t have account, register…..” option to reach registration page. Complete the page prompts as appropriate and click “Register” button to register and then login.
  4. Once login, in the given page click “Correction in personal details” button.
  5. A new page prompts user to choose either “Self” or “Family” as per requirement. Please choose as per requirement and click “Next” button.
  6. User shall also select the language of choice.
  7. In the new page please enter the Part number and Serial number at the prompted space. Make entries which require changes or correction. Fill the required details correctly.
  8. Upload relevant documents as applicable. Please enter email ID, Phone number and other details as applicable.
  9. Enter the “captcha” at the prompted space and click “Submit” button to apply online.
  10. A system generated reference id will be displayed as acknowledgement.
  11. Save this id safe for future reference to check the status.
  12. This application will be processed by the agriculture department.
  13. The internal process will be initiated to verify the details.
  14. Follow the notification to get the crop insurance scheme.

  • The RWBCIS was launched on 18th February 2016 by Hon’ble Prime Minister 12 states implemented the scheme in Kharif 2016 whereas 9 states have implemented the scheme in Rabi 2016-17.

Need for the DocumentEdit

  • Weather Based Crop Insurance Scheme (WBCIS) aims to mitigate the hardship of the insured farmers against the likelihood of financial loss on account of anticipated crop loss resulting from adverse weather conditions relating to rainfall, temperature, wind, humidity etc.
  • WBCIS aims to provide insurance protection to the framer against adverse weather incidence. Such as deficits and excess rainfall, high or low temperature, humidity etc.

  • With the objective to bring more frames under the fold of crop insurances, a pilot weather based crop insurance scheme (WBCIS) was launched in 20 states since Kharif /Rabi 2007.
  • Crop insurance also protects farmers against the loss of crops due to natural disasters, extreme weather, or revenue loss owing to price fluctuations in the agricultural market. A farmer who struggles with his plough will be assured that, in the case of a disaster, he will at least receive some return.
