Procedure

• If your trade certificate is valid, and it’s stolen or lost, then you would have to file a complaint and get a FIR copy from the local police station. This FIR is the vital document to apply for the duplicate trade certificate.
• In case of damaged or toned trade certificate, Police complaint is not required. The damaged remains of the certificate is sufficient and need to be submitted at the time of applying.

Apply In-Person:

1. To apply for a Duplicate trade certificate, the applicant has to approach the RTO office from where the certificate was obtained.

4. Application forms can be obtained from the appropriate RTO office. Obtain the appropriate application form or write on an A4 sheet as advised.

6. Submit the completed application form along with the required documents as per our “Required Documents” section of this page in one of the counter and pay the appropriate fee.
7. The submitted application form will be verified. If all are in place then this application will be processed to issue a duplicate trade certificate clearly marked "Duplicate" on it.

Apply Online:

1. The applicant willing to inform loss or destruction of a trade certificate must visit the website using the following link. Link: link
2. In the given page, select the menu “online services” and then click on the sub menu “Trade certificate” to get next page.
3. Here select the option “Apply online” on the top right corner of the screen to reach next page.
4. Please click on the “New applicant” hyperlink on top right corner of this page to get next page.
5. Enter mobile number and email id at the prompted place and hit “Generate OTP” to get OTP in your mobile number to activate.
6. The resulting screen will prompt user to fill in required details for trade license application and finally hit “Add Basic Details To Application” to get popup.
7. Here applicant gets popup about the details entered. Please hit “Save Details in Temporary Application” to get upload documents.
8. Click select “Upload/modify documents” to upload the documents.
9. After completing the above step. Please hit “Submit” to submit the application and get a confirmation page, please complete the page prompts for getting payment page.
10. Select the payment gateway option to make online payment for this procedure and get fee receipt.
11. Please print it or save it as soft copy for future reference.
12. This application will be processed and applicant gets notification about the rest of the process to obtain the certificate.

Required Documents

• Application form.
• FIR copy from the Police station (in case of theft/missing) OR
• The original remains of the trade certificate in case of the trade certificate is mutilated, torn or damaged.
• Copy of trade certificate if available
  
• Copy of the firm registration certificate or trade licence.
• An ID Proof with your photo. (Driving licence / Voter's card / Aadhaar Card /passport etc. can be used for this purpose.)

• All original and copy of original with self-attestation as advised by respective authorities to be submitted as per requirement.

Eligibility

• A valid trade certificate holder who
  • Lost their trade certificate
  • Got their trade certificate either destructed or damaged

Note:In general a trade certificate granted shall be in force for a period of twelve months from the date of issue or renewal.

Need for the Document

• Trade certificate is required by the bona fide dealer of a vehicle manufacturer.
• This certificate is issued for different class of vehicles like M/C, LMV, GOODS CARRIER, THREE WHEELER, MOTOR/MAXI CAB.
• This certificate is needed for an agency to use the vehicle for test-drive and demo purpose.
• So, it is mandatory to apply for a duplicate trade certificate as and when it was found to be missing/stolen/damaged.

• The trade certificate shall be carried on a motor vehicle in a weather-proof circular folder and trade registration mark shall be exhibited in a conspicuous place in the vehicle.
• No holder of a trade certificate shall deliver a motor vehicle to a purchaser without registration, whether temporary or permanent.
