Procedure

Apply In-Person:

1. Whenever a valid voter ID card holder shifts residence, then the address in the voter ID card need to be changed.
2. Application for transposition of entry from one part of electoral roll to another part of electoral roll of a constituency can be applied at the Electoral Registration Office of applicant’s current residential address.
3. Go to the office.
4. Link for contacts: link select the option appropriate for you to get contact details AND link2 for locating offices Please select the state and rest of the details as appropriate and click Search button.
5. Please collect a copy of Form 8A, for transfer of Name in Voter List OR you can download it online
6. Use the following link to download form. Online link for form8A (Hindi / English) : link please click “Download this file” button to get prompt. Please click the “Download” button next to the preferred language to get the form.
7. The form has all the necessary guidelines for filling it in. Complete the application form with correct details. Attach required documents as per our required document section. Submit them to the receiving officer.
8. On receiving the application, an acknowledgement will be issued in the form of an application reference number, which can be used to track the application status.
9. This application will be processed and information will be verified by the electoral authorities.
10. On successful verification, applicant will be issued with a updated voter ID having updated address printed on it.
11. Applicant will also receive a notification regarding the addition of their name in the electoral roll of the constituency where they currently reside.

1. Go to the online website. Link for site : link
2. In the given new window, click “login/register” button under “Login/Register to Avail following Facilities” on the left part of the screen.
3. User will reach login page. Please enter “User Name”, “Password” and “Captcha” as appropriate. Finally click “Login” button.
   1. If you are a new user then please use the “Don’t have account, register…..” option to reach registration page. Complete the page prompts as appropriate and click “Register” button to complete registration and then login.
4. Once login, in the given page click “Migration to another place” option under “What would you like to do?”.
5. A new page prompts user to choose either “Self” or “Family”. Please choose as per requirement to get a prompt for entering Epic number. Enter the epic number against “Enter Epic no.”
6. After entering epic number please choose either “Migration outside your constituency” or Migration within your constituency”. Please choose as per requirement and then click “Next” button.
7. A new page will be displayed. Please select the language of choice and choose state, District and constituency as appropriate.
8. Please select as per your requirement for the given options. Enter personal details, Address details EPIC details, EPIC number of neighbour.
9. In continuation of the above, please upload required documents using the “Choose File” button as applicable. Please complete the other mandatory prompts as appropriate. Please enter email ID, Phone number and other details as applicable. Make sure to fill the mandatory details correctly.
10. Enter the Captcha at the prompted space and click “Preview & Submit” button to apply online.
11. If the preview looks correct please click the “Submit” button
12. A system generated reference id will be displayed as acknowledgement.
13. Save it to use for tracking your application online later.
14. Once you have submitted your application, it will be verified by the electoral officers as per department protocol.
15. On successful verification, applicant will be issued with a updated voter ID having updated address printed on it.
16. Applicant will also receive a notification regarding the addition of their name in the electoral roll of the constituency where they currently reside.

NOTE:

• Please submit your original voter ID at the time of collecting updated voter ID
• These change will reflect on the voters list in the next turn of voting for election.

Need for the Document

• Voter ID card is considered as one of the vital documents in considering ones address proof when applying for government services (Passport, Pan etc)
• In case there is a change of address within constituency or outside constituency, then apply for transfer of address on the voter ID.

• A person cannot be enrolled as a voter in more than one place in the same constituency or in more than one constituency in view of the provisions contained under Sec. 17 and 18 of R. P. Act, 1950.
