Procedure

• No individual can start or continue a business dealing drugs / cosmetics / medicine in India, unless an appropriate license is obtained from the designated authority.
• As different state has different parameters and regulations, as a first step applicant shall consult their local drug license authority to get advice on
  • Whether apply in person option is available.
  • Any updated rules and regulations in issuance of license.
  • Update on drugs that were included in the list for which license can’t be obtained.
  • Fees payment type etc.

Apply In-Person:

1. Use the following link to locate your nearest office of the drug Controller.

3. Please go to the respective office and collect the application form or write on an A4 sheet as advised.
4. Submit the completed application along with required documents and original copy of fees paid challan to the e inward Entry section at Drugs Control Office.
5. The submitted application will be checked by authorities for details and norms.
6. If all are in place authorities will issue a receipt (an acknowledgement) for application submission. Please keep it safe for future reference.
7. This application will be processed further.
8. Applicant gets notification about the process updates through "sms".
9. Drug inspector or the respective authority will inspect the premises for verifying the correctness.
10. On a scheduled date the inspection team/authority will inspect the premise.
11. After the inspection is over, Competent person will be asked to report for an interview.
12. Once the interview is complete and the above process are over, the controller of drugs or the appropriate authority will sanction the drug license.
13. Applicant will receive information about the issue of license and shall receive it on hand or through mail as appropriate.

Note:

• Fee payment for the license is accepted in different formats like challan/cheque as applicable. Applicants are advised to take the consultation with the respective drug license authority for your area to prepare fees requirement.

2. Please hit “New Login ID & PWD” option on the top right corner of the page to get the next page.
3. In the given page please click on the "Select State" for a dropdown list against "Select Your state:" to choose the applicant's state and click on the "GO" button to get a new page.
4. Here, please click the checkbox for "Fresh License for TOTALLY NEW Firm ( With 0 Licenses )" option to get set of prompts.
5. Applicant shall follow the page prompt in completing the personal details, details of competent person and address details of premises.
6. Please complete the page prompts with the mandatory details as appropriate. Upload the documents as applicable. Once all the prompts are filled, please enter the captcha at the prompted space as appropriate and click on the "SAVE" button to get a popup.
7. The pop-up will have information on the successful completion of the process and the system generated acknowledgement. Please keep it safe for future reference. Also, please follow the on screen information and process the page requirements to complete the online applying process.
8. This application will be forwarded to respective department for further processing.
9. Applicant gets notification about the process updates through "sms".
10. The applicant shall visit the office of the respective drug inspector or the concerned authority and provide them the details of their online submission of application for drug license and follow their guidelines.
11. Drug inspector or the respective authority will inspect the premises for verifying the correctness.
12. On a scheduled date the inspection team/authority will inspect the premise.
13. After the inspection is over, Competent person will be asked to report for an interview.
14. Once the interview is complete and the above process are over, the controller of drugs or the appropriate authority will sanction the drug license.
15. The applicant will receive information about the issue of license.
16. The licence will hand delivered or can be download or delivered through mail or delivered as per applicable norms.

Eligibility

• Any person/company/partnership firm/LLP can apply for drug license
• A competent (registered pharmacist from the state pharmacy council) person with experience shall apply
