The Blue Badge Disabled Parking Scheme helps people with permanent and substantial disability, which causes inability to walk, or very considerable difficulty in walking, which makes it hard for the said individual to visit shops. The Badge will allow holders to park close to their destination.
Following is a procedure on how you can apply for a blue badge in Gibraltar.
Information which might helpEdit
Displaying the badge: You must display the badge on top of the dashboard or facia panel of the vehicle with the front of the badge (the side showing the wheelchair symbol facing forward so that the relevant details are clearly visible from the outside. Note: Failure to display the badge correctly will result in a parking penalty.
Where can you park: Apart from any normal car parking space, a Blue Badge holder is entitled to park in a Disabled Parking Bay.
Outside Gibraltar: If you are visiting countries belonging to the EU, your badge will also allow you to take advantage of the applicable motorist parking privileges in those countries.
Note: The fold out back cover says, in the language of each country, that you are entitled to park in areas where there are concessions for disabled people. You may find it helpful to leave it open on the dashboard, with your parking card, to explain this to the local enforcement agencies. In case you are not sure about your rights it will be better if you DON'T PARK.
Other uses of the Document/CertificateEdit
Please explain what are other uses of obtaining this document/certificate. e.g. Birth Certificate can be used as proof of identity.
