Procedure

Apply In-Person:

1. To Renewal of Investment Permit in Ghana, the applicant has to approach the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC).
2. Information related to the GIPC office and the License authority can be obtained from the “Office locations and contacts” section of this page.
3. Based on sufficient reason, an investment permit should be renewed annually until a project becomes operational.
4. Application form can be obtained from the Ghana investment promotion centre.
5. Applicant has to enter all the information in the application form.
6. The applicant has to make sure that he or she has all the required documents that are required for this process to be successful and they can be found under the "Required Documents" section of this page.
7. A fee for this procedure is has to be paid as per the authority’s request.
8. The investor is also required to submit a bi-annual progress report.
9. A completed application for renewal of an investment permit should be submitted to the GIPC office.
10. This application will be processed and the information will be verified by the authority.
11. If all the above mentioned procedures were followed properly, the applicant can get their renewal investment permit within 15 days by visiting the office or via post.
12. The processing time for this procedure takes 15 working days

• Foreign investors are eligible.
• Foreign nationals, excluding Ghanaian by birth, taken for domestic investors pursuant to Article 2(5) of the Proclamation.
• Domestic investors investing in areas eligible for incentives.
• Domestic and foreign investors making investments in partnerships.

• An application for renewal of an investment permit should be submitted at least a month before the end of one year for which the permit remains valid.

Need for the Document

• The Ghana Investment promotion centre is a government agency mandated to promote and facilitate investment in Ghana by both domestic and international investors.
• An investment permit issued in Ghana can be renewed up to 90 days prior to the expiration date or if the Permit is not expired for more than 1 years.
