Procedure

Apply In-Person:

1. To Obtain Temporary Driver license in Ghana, the applicant has to approach the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority Head Office in Ghana.

3. Applicant has to approach the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority Head Office in Ghana and the, the applicant can get their application form for International Driver License (IDL) contact link
4. Applicant has to enter all information in the application form.
5. Also, make sure that you have all the documents listed in the “Required documents” section of this page.
6. Applicant must make sure to carry both photocopies and originals of all documents are necessary for completing this procedure.
7. Applicant should be physically present in the driver license office where you are requesting for conversion of foreign driver license to Ghanaian driver license.
8. Payment of appropriate fees should be made and that can be found under the "Fees" section of this page.
9. Pay the appropriate fees where the officials would start processing your application.
10. Road signs and rod marking test (when the need arises).
11. Present his/her valid existing Ghanaians driver license and after validation and verification his/her will requested to pay the necessary fees.
12. If everything is successful, applicant will be provided with a Temporary Driver License.
13. Generally, the processing time for this procedure takes 2 to 5 days.

• Original emirates ID or copy of valid visa.
• Original valid UAE driving license.
• A photocopy -2 passport size.
• Road signs and rod marking test (when the need arises).
• Tax Identification Number (TIN) Certificate

For applicants who are not Residents of Ghana are required to also present the following documents:

• Photocopy of passport
• Photocopy of valid visa

Eligibility

Applicants must be hoping to obtain a driver’s license as soon as possible.

• Be 18 years old
• Take a medical exam
• Go to the Transport Authority Office where you have to take one written and two practical(behind the wheel) exams
• Submit a letter of application for driver’s license from your sponsoring organization
• Submit two passport photos

• Must be Eighteen (18) years and above if hoping to obtain a driver’s license for motor vehicles;
• Must be sixteen (18) years and above if hoping to obtain a driver’s license for motor cycles;
• Identify the kind of car you intend to drive;
• An applicant must ensure that he / she meets the age requirement;
• Applicant must be in the process of obtain a full driver’s license;
• Ensure that the forms obtained for application are the right ones;
• Must have an eye test certificate
• Must have attended any recognized driving college and awarded a certificate.

Need for the Document

• Temporary licenses in Ghana are issued for people not entitled to issue commercial licenses used for commercial plate’s purposes. They are issued to a Moroccan drivers provided they'll be able submit all necessary documents.
