Procedure

Apply In-Person:

1. Applicant has to approach the Register General Department in Ghana and the applicant can get their application form for Business Name Search contact link
2. Applicant will then be required to give details about the business verbally i.e. business/entity name and business type, to the attending official, who will do the search on the RGD computer data base.
3. Applicants provide 3 business/ company name for search for availability of a name.
4. Applicant must complete the entity form and pick a ticket per the entity type and wait till your ticket number is called.
5. Applicant must submit the completed form with all the supporting documents for validation by inspector.
6. Please refer to the fees details in the “Fees” section of this page. Pay the appropriate fees where the officials would start processing your application and Payment slip is generated for payment to be made.
7. Document is left at the in-house bank for onward process.
8. Applicant decision is made to approve, query or reject.
9. Certificate and other supporting documents are issued when applicant approval is given.
10. Generally, the processing time for this procedure is taken 20-30 days.

Apply Online

1. To business name search, the applicant has to use the link
2. Applicant search for the availability of your business name by clicking on “Name Search”.
3. Applicant “Download” forms of the entity type you want to register.
4. Then “print, fill, sign and scan” the form and other supporting documents may be required.
5. Applicants create an account as a portal user.
6. Applicant login with the “user name” and “password” given after the account creation.
7. Applicant must select Entity Registration link again on the left pane.
8. Click on “Create New” button if name has not been reserved or click on “Create From Name Reservation” button if business name has been reserved.
9. Applicant select entity type from the dropdown list.
10. Type business name under entity name and click on Proceed button.
11. Certificate and other supporting documents are issued when applicant approval is given.
12. Input data, upload scanned and signed document and applicant follow the instructions.
13. Pay online by clicking on “make payment online” link.
14. The status of the registration will be communicated via SMS.
15. Applicant click on e-Certificate link to save or print certificate and other supporting documents after approval is given.

Fees

• Pay processing fees for this procedure is GHS 60.00

Validity

• The name approved under RUN process for new company registration is valid for a period of 20 days from the date of approval. In case of change of name of an existing company, the name shall be valid for 60 days from the date of approval.
