Procedure

Apply In-Person:

1. Application form for Study Permit in Ghana is available in the Ghana Immigration office : contact link
2. Applicants apply for visa online or on paper. If applicants apply on paper you will have to visit a visa application centre in Ghana.
3. Applicant must provide necessary information in the application form.
4. Applicant must make sure to carry all necessary documents that are mentioned under “Required Documents” section of this page. (Both photocopies and originals)
5. Applicant should attach photocopies of documents (whichever is necessary) along with the applicant from while submitting it at the office.
6. If all above mentioned procedures were followed properly by the applicant, then the processing time for this procedure for 4-6 weeks.
7. Depending on your situation, after your application is analysed, it is possible the applicant will be called for a visa interview.
8. Applicant will also have to travel to London, UK, to take a medical exam provided by a certified medical officer.
9. Ghanaian students may have to provide biometric during the visa application process. You biometrics are, basically, extra identification (e.g. fingerprinting and pictures) that countries use for security purposes.
10. Applicant will have to attend a visa interview during the application process.

Eligibility

• The minimum eligibility criterion is to be a graduate with 50% score from a UGC or AICTE recognized university.
• The graduation degree has to be completed within the stipulated time with no-year back.

Fees

• Fees 150 GHS. Depending on your situation, Canadian authorities will allow you to pay this fee online, on location at a visa application centre in Ghana, or through a bank transfer.

Validity

• The study permit from Canada is valid for up to course duration +3 months. So that you can stay during your entire degree programme, you may need to renew your visa every year.

Instructions

• A foreign student must have been admitted in Greater Accra by a recognized education institution.
• Must follow the rules and regulation of the institution including work related activities as a study permit does not permit a student to work.
• All the requirements must be met by the applicant in order to be allowed in the country.
• The required documents must be submitted and any incomplete application leads to unnecessary delays or rejection.
• Children under the age of eighteen (18) years must get authorization from parents / guardians;
• Should enter with a valid travel document i.e. (passport, ECOWAS Travel Document) and an evidence of admission letter from an accredited institution.
• To have an offer of approved course from an accredited institution.
• Show proof of exemption or payment of required course fees.
• Should present a guarantee of accommodation.
• Should provide evidence of financial support.
• Should pay the prescribed fees for residence permit.
• Should complete an application form together with four (2) passport size photograph.
